"Customer Service was good. However pump was installed in a different spot then was discussed with out proper consultation. Despite prior assurances, the basement was not closed off during jack hammering, thus creating a thick layer of dust over the entire basement."

"This is by far the best contractor/company that I've worked with! The workers are responsible and highly professional! The work that has been done in my house is of a very high standard and great value. When I was doing a basement remodeling, they helped me to discover the termite damage and treat those damage for me immediately to prevent further damage. Additionally, they are good with renovation and investment. After renovations, I was able to improve the value of my house by about $20k and sold it for a good price. I am very thankful to have them because they guided me along to maximize the value of my house with a little spending. I will definitely recommend Advanced Seamless Gutters Inc to you all, not only because of the quality work they produced but their honesty and loyalty."

"Mr. Gutter was very easy to work with even though I have a full time job and was not available to meet with them personally. Mr. Gutter came to house while I was at work but after I spoke with them on the phone and provided an estimate that gave a low-cost option as well as a higher priced one that would give me greater reliability. The estimate was mailed to me and they followed up with a telephone call to go over the specifics of the estimate and the options available. My existing gutters, though less than 3 years old were overflowing and ponding. They were never installed correctly with the proper pitch, and did not have an adequately sized downspout in one area to handle the run-off from the roof area where mutiple surfaces were emptying to one downspout. As a result of this, I suffered basement leaks during heavy downpours. Mr. Gutter came promptly and cleaned out all of the gutters and downspouts, in addition to replacing the one downspout with a larger size, repitched all of the gutters and provided additional hardware where needed. They installed leaf guards on my front and side gutters, and in the rear of the house that is two-stories high and very inaccessible, they installed their top of the line gutter guard so I won't have to worry about it again for years to come. They were responsive in returning phone calls, arrived when they were scheduled to, and accomplished the work without leaving any mess. When I came home from work after they finished up, the yard and everything they worked with was in perfect condition. I would definitely use them again if needed, and highly recommend them to others."

"We have an older, slightly askew, house with an old, poorly installed shower with a lot of rot behind it. Wes (and Dave, who did the demolition) were able to clear away the mess, repair the gaps, and install a stunning modern shower. The transition between the old and new tile looks seamless, which I frankly did not expect given how technically difficult the job was. Wes is an excellent communicator, and was very reliable, transparent, and upfront throughout the process."

"I called and got a call back within the 24 hours states in the message. They were able to come out quickly and take care of all work that was possible to do. They came within the allotted 2 hour window and were polite and cleaned up after they were done. They fixed the toilet and made sure it worked properly, made an adjustment as well as installed the new sink and faucet. We have an old tub with a old style lead pipe that clogs quickly. They tried to do a few things to help but didn’t want to damage the pipe. They are the only plumbers that gave an alternative to cutting a hole in my living room ceiling that would ruin antique plaster work. They suggested going through an adjacent closet. I will be calling them in the future to replace tub drain pipe."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Northampton, MA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
