"The Seatown team did a great job. I got quotes from 3 different recommended plumbing services, but the Seatown guys were the only ones who recognized we would need to upgrade our gas meter. They did a great job explaining how to get this scheduled with PSE. The estimate Seatown gave was on par with some of the other plumbers, so we went with them. They sent 2 service people to come and install the tankless and the guys were just excellent. I expressed concern about mounting the water heater on the beams in our basement because Our house is so old, so they came up with a better solution. They built a small wall frame to mount the water heater. No extra cost. When they found there was no outlet wired near the heater they were able to get an electrician from Seatown to come out and wire one up while they worked on the water heater install. Seatown aldo had a good scheduling method, sent text reminders the day they were coming to do the work with a photo of the person who was coming and a short set of info about the person. It was a nice touch, and a thoughtful safety measure. They did a great job with the install which took several hours. I’d definitely hire them again."

"I got an estimate for my backyard drainage issue, and one for a park directly behind my home without a drainage system. The estimator was nice, but the estimate was ridiculously overpriced and did not explain any breakdown of charges. It was just a total number; nearly $40,000 for a small park drainage system. When I asked for a breakdown of how they came up with that amount, I was told they couldn't break it down because the price is what it was, it was all wrapped into one. I did not understand what that meant, but I was not happy with the price or the lack of explanation. Needless to say I did not hire them."

"Outstanding work and value. Andy was quick to respond and came out the next day to assess what we needed to do to improve the drainage in our crawlspace. The home is built on a sloped lot. Andy suggested a full perimeter drain install around the foundation. The work also included complete replacement of the vapor barrier. All work was performed efficiently and Andy backed it up with a lifetime warranty. I couldn't be happier with the end result and would highly recommend Andy and his crew."

"We had a damp crawlspace. John's installed drainage with sump pumps (lead and backup with battery backup power) and encapsulated the dirt with 20 mil plastic. They also installed PU foam around the perimeter foundation walls to complete the insulation envelope of the house and a dehumidifier top keep the crawlspace area dry. In short, this work solved the problem we had and provided the added benefits of a more energy efficient and comfortable house due to the insulation as well as better indoor air quality. The work was done in four days and at considerably less cost than a competing contractor bid to do it. Another person that we had inspecting house later looked at the crawlspace and commented, "Wow! You could do brain surgery down here." We actually wouldn't recommend that though ;)"

"Rainy Day Basement System from my very first contact to office manager, were to most responsive to questions and concerns. Ryan, my first contact was fantastic, Jessica was always available to answer questions and worked with the Swinomish Tribe (permitting agency) to get everything needed. Rainy Day Basement Systems is a company I would recommend to anyone looking for quality, not just in workmanship but also in customer satisfaction."

"Great. We had flooding in our basement over the weekend and they were out to assess the situation within two hours. Reilly came out and was great. We were able to schedule permanent repairs for the following week. Jeffrey and assistant John arrived right on time and did a great job for us. We appreciated the friendly and quick service and would hire them again."

"I took advantage of a special they offered through Angie's List to run a camera through my drain pipes to determine the cause of water leaking through my concrete foundation into my daylight basement. It turned out to be a block in the line from the kitchen, probably grease, etc. That, in turn, caused water to flow out, likely where the pipes connect (ie; a straight end from one pipe connecting into a bell-shaped end of the next). The escaping water then flowed through the ground and seeped up into the house through a crack in the foundation. The video didn't show that the pipe was broken, but it wasn't conclusive. Simply running the camera through the line cleared the blockage, so the immediate problem was solved. However, I have to decide whether to have a separate drain pipe installed, not an inexpensive project. <br />   <br /> My only complaint was that when they arrived they didn't have the necessary "mini" camera to do the job, having brought another camera that wouldn't fit into the drain line clean-out. It seems logical to me that if you're scheduled to do a scope job on drain lines that you would bring equipment to address whatever situation you faced when you arrived. (I suspect another team from the company had that mini camera equipment, but I don't know.) At any rate, they apologized and rescheduled, coming out the next day at the appointed time. They were professional and thorough, and overall I was pleased, and would recommend them. <br />"

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Oak Harbor, WA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
