"John H and Jake K did a very fine job tearing out the existing bathtub and replacing it with a walk-in shower. It was completed in one day (a long day). Looks great."

"Every aspect of our bathroom project was handled professionally, from the selection of the materials to be used, to the demolition and finally the installation. We had our tub removed and a walk-in shower installed, new flooring and walls, plus new fixtures and trim. The professionals who did the work were respectful, efficient and knowledgable. We appreciated how clean they left the workspace at the end of each day. The results are beautiful and we love our new bathroom. Highly recommended!"

"Brody's service met and exceeded any and all expectations. Brody and his assistant were hired to remove & remodel a bathtub & shower unit. The project was to remove and install a new more disabled friendly set up.. This was for my elderly disabled mother. The bathroom turned out AMAZING !!!!!!! ... truly what a transformation. They not only did a professional, job, they were so polite and went out of their way to clean their work area. They took precautions to ensure no dust or debris few into the other rooms as project progressed. I am extremely pleased in their work , professionalism & how very polite and courteous they were to my elderly disabled mother. They also added grab bars in the shower and around the toilet area. A handicap bench was also installed into the shower.. I would recommend this company to anyone & everyone. We were so very lucky to have come across such a wonderful, professional company with such kindness . The new shower unit is much safer and under friendly for my disabled elderly mother."

"I'd break this project into two phases - the first phase was the demolition of the old and installation of the new. This phase was incredibly fast, starting on a Monday and ending four days later on Friday morning. I was very impressed that this could happen so quickly and equally gratified that Tri-County kept to the schedule it had told me to expect. At the end of this week I had all my new cabinets in place and could begin putting things away. Phase two was the waiting period - first waiting for the granite to be installed, and along with it the sink and disposer. Granite install (measuring and installing in two different visits) was also completed as scheduled. The rest of the "waiting period" involved very minor fixes to some items that needed attention. None of these were critical, mostly cosmetic. We kept a punch list going and worked with Paul to get all of these completed. Paul was outstanding to work with - his work is high quality, and his ability to solve problems (small ones always arise) showed a lot of creativity and attention to my needs - customer satisfaction and conserving my money are as important to Paul (and Tri-County) as they are to me."

Customers say: Quality work

"This was my first time using a contractor for work on my house and I was a bit nervous.  Carmen and his assistant Shawn were great!  They showed up every day on time (or called/texted if they were running behind), worked hard and did a great job of cleaning up before they left.  They picked up all of my fixtures at the retailers.  They do excellent work for a good price.  My bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous and I am thrilled with the results. <br /> My master bath involved the removal of a wall between a closet and the existing 3' x 7' 1/2 bath.  Carmen removed everything down to the studs.  His uncle is a master plumber and does beautiful work.  They were even able to move my toilet to a better location after several people told me it couldn't be done.  Carmen suggested installing a light behind the shower in an alcove, as well as two additional lights in the closet.  I was afraid that this change order would be costly but it was very reasonable and he made sure I approved it before beginning work.  They built a shower floor, the shower walls and Shawn (his helper) did a beautiful job tiling.  They were very accomodating to my request for insets and had a brilliant idea to use glass tile in the recessed shelving area.  It's pretty amazing that I have a custom shower that was built for a better price and higher quality than anything found in a big box store.  The glass subcontractor that was used did a beautiful job installing a frameless glass shower door and half panel.  They even beveled back the accent tile to allow the door to swing 180 degrees.  All of this was accomplished in only 3 weeks! <br /> We did have an issue regarding a miscommunication involving the shower trim & valve.  I had purchased a handle/valve & shower head to match my faucets and Carmen had also purchased a handle/valve & shower head.  Fortunately, I had bought a quality trim kit and when they were working on my other bathroom they were able to change out the valve from the back since the tile was installed.  <br /> My main bathroom involved the removal of the existing fixtures and the installation of a new tile floor, toilet, tub, vanity, fan, light, medicine cabinet and paint.  Shawn once again did a great job on the tile and the entire room looks amazing.  The only change in this room was due to the location of my cold water supply conflicting with a vanity drawer and using a pre-hung door instead of attempting to retrofit a new door.  Again, Carmen was extremely up front about the price for the change and discussing my options.  <br /> These guys are true professionals and do fantastic work. They're not the cheapest option out there but well within a normal range--you definitely get what you pay for!  I will definitely use them in the future and will recommend them to everyone I know. <br />"

"I have a 1957 built ranch-style home that needed some major upgrades over the past 3 years.  Those projects were all done by Dion at Three Rivers Remodeling.  I met Dion back in 08/2011 through my neighbor (his in-laws) and the first project was my upstairs bathroom.  I was impressed with Dion's professionalism, attention to detail/cleanliness, and punctuality.  I was really impressed when Dion asked if it would OK for him to work on the bathroom on Labor Day.  Since then, in 2011 Dion installed glass block windows in my garage and replaced the doors/base boards in the hallway.  In 2012, Dion replaced a paneled wall in the living room with drywall, painted the living room, refinished the hardwood floors, and built stairs leading from the basement to the living area.  In 02/2014, I hired Dion for a complete kitchen remodel.  Finally, in 11/2014, Dion remodeled my downstairs bathroom.  On that job, after he gutted the room we found several problems that we were not expecting.  Dion worked most days until 9:00 (after asking me if that would be OK) in order to get the job done by the promised completion date while not sacrificing the quality of the finished project.  When I show people the finished project, they are always very impressed by Dion's work. <br /> Dion does all the work himself and he is a bit of a perfectionist.  I know that he prefers to do the job right as opposed to doing the job cheaply.  I cannot say the same thing about the prior owners of my house.  When we discovered the issues with the downstairs basement, Dion explained my options.  What we could/could not get away with.  What is the right way/workaround to correct the problem.  Inevitably, with my experience with Dion, I trust his judgement and always authorize him to do it the right way. <br /> When it comes to pricing, I do my research and go into the project with a range on what I think it will cost.  Dion always comes in within that range.  Never overpriced and never a low-ball estimate.  He discusses what needs to be done with me in layman's terms and his contract clearly discloses all the work to be done for the price.  Any unanticipated costs (like on the downstairs bathroom) are clearly discussed, priced, documented, and presented to me for approval before Dion proceeds with any work. <br /> Oh, and Dion likes my dogs (and they love him) even letting them out for bathroom breaks while he's on the job.  May seem trivial, but, just another example of the extra steps Dion takes to make the whole process a positive experience. <br />"

FAQs for bathtub installation and replacement projects in Oakmont, PA

Most tubs last an average of 20 years, or closer to 10 to 15 if they’re acrylic or fiberglass. If you’re seeing persistent leaks, cracks, stubborn stains, or mold that won’t scrub away, it’s time to start shopping for a replacement. Out-of-date features and visible water damage are other red flags. Swapping the tub now protects your bathroom from bigger (and pricier) repairs down the road.

You should install your tub in a location that complements your bathroom's layout, plumbing connections, and personal preferences. Consider placing it near existing plumbing to minimize installation costs. Many homeowners position their tubs to take advantage of natural light or scenic outdoor views, enhancing relaxation.

Ensure there's sufficient space around the tub for easy access and safety, especially if accessibility is a concern. Ultimately, the ideal spot is where the tub fits seamlessly with your bathroom design and provides the most comfort and convenience for your needs.

Replacing a bathtub takes just one or two days if you hire a pro to handle the job. They'll remove the old tub and install the new one efficiently. If you're considering doing it yourself, be prepared for it to take much longer, possibly up to a month. That's because you'll need to remove the old tub and drywall, install the new tub, repair the walls, and maybe tackle new tiling. Weigh the time commitment against potential cost savings to decide what's best for you.

Converting your tub to a shower transforms your bathroom with a modern and accessible design. The average cost to convert a tub to a shower ranges from $2,000 to $10,500, based on the required plumbing, tiling, and structural modifications. This upgrade maximizes space while boosting functionality and aesthetics in your bathroom.
