"The crew Marquett, James and Jeff performed our foundation repair. They were polite and very informative. Each person explained their process and goal for the job. Everyone was busy. They completed the job in one day and cleaned up after themselves. They lifted and supported about a third of our home. They dug under our foundation, placed a spiral and jacked up the house. It was amazing to watch the cracks close up. What a relief. Sam and Belle came in to drill our floors and inject a foam product under our foundation to give it support and fill gaps where biologic products had deteriorated and left a space. They were quick and efficient and cleaned their work area. We would recommend Alpha Foundations."

"Though I did not use Better Builder's for these jobs, simultaneously we found we needed more immediate and crucial work completed on the house requiring more specialized experts, Lloyd from BB was more than helpful in providing options for what could be done in the remodel and the names of contacts and subcontractors such as electricians, plumbers etc <br />"

"Jake and his team are truly incredible. I have dealt with a lot of contractors over the years, and NONE of them come close to the experience Parkstone provided. Every other contractor wanted to tear down my fence and start from scratch, but Jake quoted me for both costs: to repair or to replace. I opted to repair it to keep my costs down, and they went right to work. Showed up when they said they would, kept me updated on progress, and the pricing was fair. I was relieved at the start and thrilled at the end. Since having mine done, I think 3 or 4 of my neighbors have gotten them to do the same. Definitely coming back to Parkstone next time I need any work done on my house."

"The package was to include caulking and minor repairs, all exterior painting, washing and prepping of all surfaces, and labor. Paint was to be paid for by the homeowner. We ALSO had to purchase the caulking, the blue tape and papers for covering the windows. They were to start on either March 31 or April 1, but when I called Mike to let him know they could start on Apr. 1, he said they had another job to do that day, and they would start on April 2. They did start on April 2nd, but never showed up until almost 10 in the morning, and the same thing happened on the two following days. Mike did very little of the actual work, he left many, many times, especially on the first 2 days. He seemed to spend a lot of time on his cell phone, when the others were working. His "helpers', Julian and Marty, did 90% or more of the actual work, and they worked well. On the third day, when they thought they were done and were packing up to leave, we had to point out to them areas that needed to be touched up or finished. They also had to use our ladders which were in our garage, as they didn't seem to have any of their own. <br />     I also hired Mike to pressure wash our pool deck and fence, and we'd agreed on a price ($200) but the work was done by Marty and Julian, again. Mike told me at least 3 times during the course of the 3 days that he hadn't been paid by Angie's List yet, that Angie's List took 30% of his pay, and asked more than once about the price of the pressure washing. I told him that I paid up front for the entire job when I contracted him on Angie's List. We were considering having some additional staining or painting work done to the fence by Mike, but changed our minds by the third day. I feel that he may be having some financial stress, but that is not my concern with a contractor. I expect the contractor to keep his personal problems to himself. <br />"

"We developed a leak under the sink where the reverse osmosis system was connected. Vince removed the saddle clamp that leaked and installed a new brass T valve - much better connection. We were also unhappy with our shower. Vince installed a new, longer pipe to get the shower head further away from the wall and installed a much better quality Delta shower head. <br />"

"Flawless. Work completed on (or ahead of) schedule and within estimate. Quality of work excellent. Appointments always kept punctually. Follow-up on every item. Modifications handled without problem. Jack was on the job and provided direct supervision of subcontractors, who were there on schedule. This is the only home improvement contractor I've ever encountered who met all my standards for performance and customer service. Recommended without reservation! <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Ochlocknee, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
