"This pro provided useful information via a virtual (online) video consultation. Since this service does not send technicians to the home, they did not do the actual work. I am considering whether to order parts and try to complete the repair myself or under their virtual direction."

"We had an old wood stove we hadn't used since 1996, and it was probably quite a bit older than that. We needed it removed. It sat on flagstones and had flagstones on the wall behind it. The two guys showed up right on time and were professional. We had already covered up stuff with plastic drapes. We probably should have done a better job because dust still got everywhere. When they started prying off the flag stones, it turns out there was a layer of bricks and mortar on both the wall and the floor that also needed to be removed. This was a surprise. After conferring with Buck, they told me they had to raise the price to cover the cost, but it seemed perfectly reasonable. It would have taken us weeks to do it ourselves, and we would have had to rent a dumpster. Instead they got it all taken out and hauled away, and vacuumed and swept as best they could (the dust was very fine). A real bargain. <br />"

FAQs for fridge, freezer or ice maker repair or service projects in Ontario, OR

Most ice makers are similar in design, and some parts are interchangeable. However, if your ice maker has advanced filters or special features, it's best to use the same make and model to ensure everything works properly. Ask your appliance repair pro to check your appliance specifications to be sure.

With regular use and proper maintenance, an ice maker typically lasts about four to five years. If you keep up with tasks like changing the filters every six months, you might get up to 10 years out of your ice maker. Address any problems with your ice maker right away by calling an appliance professional to ensure you solve any issues before they escalate, helping to keep your ice maker running smoothly for longer.

Your refrigerator's age plays a big role in deciding whether to repair or replace the ice maker. If your fridge is nearing the end of its average 14-year lifespan, it might not be worth investing in expensive repairs since other parts could fail soon. Getting a diagnosis from a refrigerator repair pro can help you decide what's best.
