I then decided it was time and contacted the contractor again. He sent me an updated quote and the project was scheduled. It's now installed and I'm very happy with how it turned out. Hopefully it will be a long time before we need to use the generator because we lose our power. But we are ready when it happens. Mr. John Sherlock arrived at the time and date specified to give us an estimate.  He returned the following day with his assistant and performed the job in one day.  He installed 26 copper lightning rods on the flat roof of our 7,000 square foot home.  These rods were connected with 500 feet of heavy duty copper cable and were grounded at three points with ground rods going down through the drainpipes into the ground. All parts of the system were securely attached to the roof.  He did a neat job and cleaned up all excess materials.  We were very pleased with the job him did.  Since installation of the lightning rod system we have had no trouble with lightning striking the house or causing power outages or surges.

"They're pretty good. I think overall they're good, I'm happy I have it. They can be problematic, that's if you don't know your contract and what's covered or not. It's fine. I like it. I like American Home Shield. They don't really vary in cost. They do respond to you. They send really decent referrals and you really don't have to do too much. They have different plans, so it's up to the person to find the plan and know what they are getting. When you call they suggest you go online. So when you go online and it does not turn out what they say, then they say you should have called. It's just a circular thing. When you put a claim in online, it only gives you a category and no opportunity for details and that's a problem. All my electrical smoke alarms went off in the middle of the night. It was horrible, I had to get up on a ladder at 2:00 am in the morning and pull out wires in the ceiling. To me it was an electrical issue, but they dismissed it. Because I couldn't tell them that in the service request, I just put electrical and it was a big problem. They're website needs to have a note, a comment. It would be great instead of a category to add some comments. They don't have that."

We chose Kirt Johnson Construction because of his fair and detailed estimate and we also felt very comfortable with having him in our home.The work started right on schedule and went very good. We did have some trouble with the flooring which Kirt had no part of, but worked with us to accommodate us until the problem was rectified, he went above and beyond. Kirt and Shaun did an excellent job in keeping the mess to a minimum and cleaning up everyday. Kirt and his team kept the communication lines open and running freely through out the entire project. The project was a joint effort between ourselves and Kirt with suggestions from him of what would work and what would not. The finished project is a great addition to our home. We will be using Kirt Johnson Construction for further projects down the road, we couldn't be happier or more impressed with their professionalism or the finished project."
