"On time, did the job quickly. Was not expecting the 'additional fees' they quoted after arriving. Especially when they asked 'did the office tell you about ...?, which they did not. So, quote of $535 turned into $880 after the 'tank opening fee $75', the 'filter cleaning fee $65', the 'wash tank fee $65' and 'extra water fee $140'. Pro tips 1) ask what the added charges will be 2) uncover the tanks yourself 3) spray down the solids tank (hose water) and 4) clean your own filter before contractors arrive, save yourself $345."

"Travis and Jose arrived on time and went right to work on using their electronic equipment to locate where my sewer line ran from the house. They had to get up on the roof and run a cable down through a vent, then track where the cable was in the sewer pipe under ground. A former owner of the house created this problem because they built a brick patio right over the old access pipes so you couldn't get to them if you needed to clean out your sewer line! I don't get some people! Anyway, the men dug down about four feet through tree roots and dirt right on target to where the sewer line ran. I was totally impressed by their hard work and knowledge of my situation. They then installed the new PVC pipes by cutting the old sewer line and making a union with the new parts. They filled it I, watering it down as they went and cleaned up the area without leaving a trace -- except my new clean out access ports just above grade as I had asked. GREAT JOB GUYS! They were totally polite, professional and answered every question we put to them. I've got some piece of mind now and I say that's well worth the price. I will call on RAM again if I have any other plumbing issues. They have my respect and best recommendation. <br />"

"Retained Southern AZ Rain Gutters Inc (SARG) for installation of a 1,500-gallon Poly-Mart tank and two separate runs from two scuppers totaling around 100 linear feet of 8” tubing to capture approximately 600 gallons during a 1-inch rainfall (Capturing water from 1K square foot roof area). Within 1-2 days of reaching out to SARG, Lou was on site to assess my plan. Lou was patient, knowledgably and thorough. Lou did return an additional time following some revisions to ensure we were all on the same page, always on time and a class act. After solidifying our requirements, contract was signed, and production began. Our critical path required the tank be delivered weeks in advance of the scheduled install to support another project that would become an obstacle. Mariano the Program Manager delivered the tank, no questions asked to support our timeline. As we closed in on install, Mariano kept us abreast via text – he never left me wondering what step was scheduled next. Jesus and Caleb arrived on time for install – installation could not have gone better. Absolute professionals, thorough and exact on alignments and ensuring the location of the inlets and overflow valve / pop up placement met our expectations. They cleaned up all materials and left the yard as they found it. SARG did a fantastic job, and I COULD NOT be more pleased. A couple tips that may help you help yourself. If you intend to install a rain harvest system, do your research, take the Watershed Management Group’s 3-hour class, which is required to apply for your rebate. I am not saying SARG is costly, but you are paying for great service, sound install & support. Know your plan, understand your measurements, your expected rain capture expectation, where you are collecting water from, where your overflow will be placed in the yard, where your tank will be placed, does your desired tank size meet your needs, is it too big / too small. SARG will help you ‘figure it out’ but be an “educated / informed consumer” – it will make the process much more enjoyable. I read some negative reviews on stupid stuff like suggesting they “Didn’t have an exact color to match my house?” Go buy your house paint and ask them to use it! Be part of the solution not part of the problem. It’s my review that this company will do everything they can to help you achieve a successful installation – but it involves the customer having some level of understanding of what it is they are buying. Great company, great staff, great experience – highly recommended!"

"I would not recommend Hester Plumbing for the elderly. Brian, the owner was arrogant and curt, always in a hurry, and spoke very rapidly. I believe he is driven by money, not customer service. He told us not to go through Angi and to cancel our install with Lowes after he found that there was no way to install a switch without getting an electrician involved. We also had a couple of other small jobs we needed done. He said to buy a starter and he left. We bought the starter at Lowes and cancelled the install. He said e would install the disposal and do the other small jobs when he returned. We waited a couple of day for him to call and set a new appointment. We the missed the appointment because of an emergency. I apologized. He called several days later and we set another appointment. He was fast and efficient during the time he was here and charged us for the missed call. That was fair, but he never disclosed that he would do that. I discovered it when I questioned the bill. Anther plumber told me up front that we would be responsible for a $90 service fee, for the visit plus labor and materials. The $90 would be applied to the final bill. Brian disclosed up front that by putting the hole in for the start button, there was a chance it could shatter the sink. I pictures our sink in pieces, but we gave him the go ahead. When he left, he did not point out that there was a small chip by the start button and I did not do a close inspection because it was obvious that the sink was not in shatters. When I thought Brian's install could have created another issue that arose after he left, I left a humorous VM message. He called and pointed out my error. I apologized. He did not accept my apology or get my sense of humor, nor give me time to explain. He was in a hurry to reinforce how wrong I was. I said goodbye in tears and then texted him saying that there was a chip in the surface of the sink where he installed the disposal start button. I was concerned that water might leek through into the cabinet. I asked if needed silicone caulking. He never replied. If he had given me a yes or now answer, I could have done the silicone my self. It he gave good customer service he would have returned do the caulking."

"We have an old house with old plumbing. After several tries with other companies, we found Silverado and haven't looked back. Silverado has repiped half our home, replaced our water heater, replaced a sink, and has rootered and videoed our problematic sewer lines. Unlike experiences we had with other companies, their prices and recommendations are sensible and logical, and do not appear to be driven by commission. I *sincerely* hope that their recent ownership change does not mean a change to this practice, because we are so happy to finally have found "our plumber". All of the plumbers who have been to our home have been polite, friendly, and helpful. In particular, we are grateful for the courtesy, problem-solving ability, and diligence of Tim and Jack, who are superb. These individuals take the time to physically show you the problem and explain the options available and ramifications for each. Workmanship is careful and demonstrates thought as to usability, cost, and need. These are professionals."

"The owner, Christian, came out for an estimate right away. He was smart and very pleasant to deal with and extremely professional. We were able to work out dates that were most convenient to me.  The installation was done in a very timely manner, with no fuss or aggravation and his price beat all other estimates.  I would recommend this company without hesitation. <br />"

"About 4 days after I moved into my house I received jolting news from Tucson Water Co. that I needed to install a backflow valve because they determined that I had an active well on the property. I called several companies and selected Apperson Plumbing. Apperson was in the middle of the price range and offered a senior discount. The original appointment date needed to be moved but we had enough notice and it caused no inconvenience. Amanda, the office manager, was very courteous and responded rather quickly to any emails or phone calls. On the 27th, Jeff came out and supervised another plumber, Jesus, on the installation. In the interim, Jeff departed to pick up a replacement gas line and a gauge for the propane tank feeding our kitchen stovetop. When the installation of the backflow valve was completed, Jeff did a final inspection and sent off the required report to Tucson Water. He then installed the gas line/gauge. Because we anticipate additional plumbing work, we asked him to do a walk through the house to get some advice on faucets. Everything went well and we'll probably be seeing Jeff or one of his workers in the near future. The backflow installation included a cover for the unit (outside) and an expansion tank on the water heater as require by current code. <br />"

"I've been a client of Arico for nearly 20 years & they've always provided excellent service, with professional & qualified staff. On this visit, Robert did a great job installing the new water heater. There were challenges in removing the old heater, but with his experience & expertise, they were resolved quickly. This is the second time Robert has been the technician to assist with a plumbing problem. He's always professional, but at the same time very personable & easy to deal with. When I saw him pull up in the truck, I was glad to see him again. Once the installation was completed, the area was cleaned up nicely. Will definitely call Arico in the future, and hopefully Robert will be the technician to answer the call."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Oro Valley, AZ

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
