"Professional, efficient, and timely quality work. Well worth the money. My job was was a 28' X 21' parking pad in a sloped and difficult to reach location in front of my house. They removed the greens, installed and compacted gravel fill to level the area with a 2% slope, then installed asphalt by skip loader using hand and power tools to smooth, finishing with a vibrating roller. I got to see their skillset in it's entirety. I am pleased with the results and would recommend them for your job."

"We checked around a few granite businesses that were vague on pricing or did not respond to questions. We went into Pro Granite and immediately appreciated the customer service and well organized showroom. Anna was very helpful showing us around and upfront about pricing, she even gave us a printout of our project with the costs of different pieces of granite. Very reasonably priced! Less than the big box stores. We decided on one kind and they pulled out those slabs for us to select the exact one we wanted. Excellent communication and punctuality from the templating appointment to the installation, always arriving about 5 minutes early in fact. Vinnie and Ivan did a meticulous job, their dedication to their craft shows through in the finished project. Recommend 100%."

"Bob was able to fit my one day job in between other jobs he had, and did what I could not have. Clean cut lines and a lot of dirt moved, in less than 8 hours. The work he did was very helpful to the end results of not only the project I am currently working on (to expand my current driveway), but also another project that I have planned for the future (to reduce the steep grade of the rest of the back yard)."

"Sia and his crew did a stellar job on my new concrete driveway conversion from gravel and block planter wall in front of the house! After a prompt free estimate and due diligence, I found Step Up's estimate to be the most competitive and fairly priced. They were always very communicative and promptly showed up when they said they would everyday. Throughout the whole process, they kept the work area clean during the day and at the end of the day before leaving. In the end, both the concrete driveway and block wall turned out great, couldn't be happier with their work!"

"Overall, it went pretty well.  The guys doing the work were receptive to my requests regarding the way the flagstone patio was fit together.   I was happy with the outcome, though I had to finish up some things on my own.  There were no instruction provided regarding how to take care of the seeded (grass) area, the polymeric filler ("Gator Dust") around the flagstone, or cleaning and sealing the flagstone.  I would recommend giving customers those kinds of instructions.  I ended up researching various things on my own.  Some of the polymeric filler used around the flagstone was not settled and I ended up with a hole where I had placed a stool leg.  I left a message for Tyler, the owner, asking about how to address that - I did not get a reply.  I ended up buying a bag of the "Gator Dust" and will use it to fill holes and where the original filling settled/settles.  I also left a message about the grass, as after the grass started growing, it seemed a bit sparse (should I add more seed?).  I have not heard back. <br /> For whatever reason, poor communication seems to be an epidemic among contractors. All Things Dirt isn't the worst, but there is room for improvement, particularly in regard to the follow-up.  <br />"

"Beautiful. The crew was fantastic and Project Manager Bryce was a terrific asset. I planned to build a Costco outdoor pavilion after paver installation but wanted to pre-install concrete footings and trench in electrical cable for lights, receptacles and ceiling fan, prior to the pavers going down. Bryce and his team gave me ample time and some assistance to make my vision come true. Our sales associate Kirk made great suggestions regarding colors, borders and additional low voltage lights. We could not be happier. This has transformed our backyard and given us a long awaited retreat ... any time of day or evening. Thank you System Pavers."

"Mr Van was early to our agreed time and ready to work. He and his helper trimmed 7 trees, trimmed 6 large rhodies, removed a diseased apple tree and cut down 7 juniper bushes. He removed lots of old firewood and other landscape trash which had been unattended for several years. The entire area was left cleaned and beautiful which was above expectations. As a Vietnamese immigrant, his English skills and level of understanding were outstanding. There were no misunderstandings or confusing discussions. His professionalism as a landscaper was above expectations. I highly recommend Mr Van and I would hire him again."

"I have hired them to do bi-weekly lawn maintenance for me and also a clean up job on part of my property. Pedro is an excellent communicator, prices are reasonable, and they always show up when they say they will. Having gone through a few landscapers before hiring PG, I can tell you just how hard it is to find a quality landscaper. I am very satisfied and will continue to use them for bi-weekly lawn maintenance and all my future yard projects!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Puyallup, WA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
