"The work took longer than I expected, but was done extremely well. I like these cabinets better than the Wood-Mode ones they were made to match. The dimensions and quality were spot-on. The finish was perfect upon installation, but has darkened some since - attesting to the difficulty of matching 20-year-old finishes. The cost of the same cabinets, without the two extra doors and wine rack, was about $1,000 more from Wood-Mode. Another cabinet maker cost was about the same as Concept's. <br /> About 6 months after I replaced the small wine storage unit with a Sub-Zero unit. Concepts made a perfectly matching frame for the door. <br /> I'm considering Concepts in Wood for my vanity when I remodel the master bath. <br />"

"Overall, everyone I spoke to was very professional and polite. The person who set up our appointment called as soon as I requested a quote online. I wasn't crazy about being asked if I had a spouse- I know there was a time when that was an acceptable question, but that time was the 1970's. From that alone, I knew this was a company that typically worked with older and wealthier clients. We are not 1%ers and are relatively young home owners in a working class neighborhood, but we pay our bills on time, which I believe is the requirement for hiring a contractor. The representative that came for our estimate was overtly friendly, punctual, and professional. She explained all the things that could go wrong, what they could find in the walls, and how slow leaks could add $10k+ to a $30k-$40k base estimate-without changing the layout. She explained that the company was large and had multiple departments, specialist, and hands-on care that generated overhead which why their estimate was twice our highest estimate, three times our lowest estimate and that we could certainly find someone to do the work for closer to the $15k we're expecting, but they wouldn't be insured or secure permits; this, for the record, is not true. The website she directed us to for the area average and "cost vs value added" lists $20k as the average price, still $10k-$20k below her quote. She suggested we replace the tub and not do any other work because it wouldn't be a good investment. She asked us if we work from home and when we said no she asked if we work, presumably because we were home in the middle of the day. From beginning to end, it felt friendly-insulting. It felt like our base estimate was the "no way am I taking this job" highball estimate. Especially when compared to the amounts listed by other reviewers for this type of work from this company, which are in the $15k range. For the record, my marital status is not related to the work I want done and not everyone works Monday-Friday 9-5. We did manage to purchase a house, after all. I'm sorry my house and my neighborhood weren't good enough for this company- actually, no, I'm not. Overall, huge disappointment and a waste of everyone's time."

"It went great! Although we paid quite a bit for this project (one 8' slider and one sidelight plus an entrance door to our garage) I was very impressed with the company in general --- I guess you get what you pay for! The salesman came out and we discussed the project. The installer then came out to measure and when I had hesitations, made other suggestions so that I would be happy. The salesman came out again and we re-did the order based on the installer's suggestions. The doors/window were installed just after Christmas and the workers were amazing! They took great care to make certain that the installation was correct -- even in our house of unevenness. I watched them build out the trim so that it would look nice and handle the challenges of our uneven ceiling with ease. In the end, I was very happy with the entire process. I was also very happy to see them take such great care in the clean up.. leaving it better than they found it! The only negative was the cost -- but they assure me it's guaranteed forever, even to the next owner, and even if I throw something at my husband, miss and break the window, lol."

"We are putting our house up for sale in the next year or two so I didn't want to spend a lot on kitchen counters, but really wanted to update what I had.  I got a quote from Lowe's for about $1300 for special order laminate counter tops if WE installed them.  (special order because of the island size) On a recommendation from a family member I stopped out to Mike's Custom Cabinets and explained the situation.  The woman who helped me couldn't have been nicer.  She was able to show me selections as little as $500 INSTALLED!  Expecting to spend more than that, I asked for other options and found a beautiful sample of laminate.  Mike was at our house to measure for the new counter tops within a couple days (and trust me, with our 150 yr old house it wasn't easy!!) They custom made the counter tops to my needs (I preferred a higher back splash) and installed them within a week.   The installers were friendly, professional, disposed of the old counter & sink, and covered my floors so they didn't get them dirty.  And the counter tops - beautiful!!  What a wonderful experience and I will surely go back to them in the future for any other kitchen updates I may need.   So, I spent less than I would have at Lowe's, didn't have to do the work, and didn't have to dispose of anything.  I couldn't have asked for anything more!   <br />"
