I’m a hardworking person who doesn’t like to leave projects half finished or looking sloppy, I can be a bit of a perfectionist. I’ve always fixed and built almost everything I needed myself and I take pride in being self sufficient. I’ve been an electrician for a year and half now and before that I was fabricating aerators for private residences. I have a wife and two children, so I can handle the chaos of a whole house remodel even if you decide to alter any details halfway through.

"They have done a variety of work for us; roofing, remodeled doorways, remodeled gutter, and other things. They are our go-to remodeling company. Their price is higher than the normal but worth the price when it comes to the product of the service and the result. The owner, Steve Heidorn, believes in doing a good job and ensures that the job is done right and on time. He personally comes and checks everything so they can be trusted to do the job right. I'm always comfortable with their work."

"<p>Starting from the begining, we had a hail storm on July 13, 2015. Needless to say there were MANY contractors knocking on our door and MANY phone calls from contractors. It really was a nightmare line up of companys we never heard of before with the majority of the people representing these companys offering "rock bottom pricing" so that we could make money off of the insurance claim. We were interested in getting the job done right, the first time, in a timely fashion. </p> <p>On July 14, 2015 our insurance adjuster came to our home.</p> <p>Then a few days later a very nice young lady named "Jen" with Castle Rock Restoration stopped by the house. She was very professional and personable, stated what Castle Rock would do and did not make empty promises like so many others had. I looked at the Castle Rock website ( www.castlerock1.com ) and it impressed me as much as Jen had. I called Castle Rock and within a few days another wonderful employee named Steve Page came to the house to do an inspection of the hail damage. He also was very professional and personable. He came prepared and answered all our questions. Steve found a few things that our insurance adjuster missed so he contacted our insurance adjuster and the claim was increased. We signed on with Castle Rock on July 30, 2015 feeling very confident that we had chosen the right company to do business with! The President of Castle Rock, Gary Kotlan was also very involved through out the process. The date to start work was set as August 11, 2015. </p> <p>The skylights that were needed to replace our damaged ones took a few days to locate - but they found them and had them delivered to the house. I was able to text / call Steve or Gary with any questions and they always responded quickly! Many times within minutes! On August 11th a crew of 6 showed up at 7:30 am and started work. The man running the crew ( sorry, I forgot his name) was friendly and profesional also along with every man on the crew. He told me that the job would be completed by 4:00 pm ! My thoughts were "no way" since there were TWO 2 car garages and the house being tore off and reshingled with 11 air vents, two skylights and all the other pipes and fireplace vent. Well they did it! The job was done by 4pm, they did clean up and were on the road by 5pm. AMAZING!</p> <p>There was only a few small issues we found within a few days and Gary had men there within an hour and they fixed the issues! </p> <p>Hiring Castle Rock was the best decision! Did we get all that was promised? YES we did, and then some!  We were interested in getting the job done right, the first time, in a timely fashion, and that is exactly what we got! There are MANY homes on our area that had hail damage and MANY of them are still waiting for work to begin for the repairs as of this date ( 8/27/2015). Just a day ago someone knocked at my door asking who did the roofs, because they looked so nice and was impressed that all the work was done so quickly. This person is still waiting for their contractor to start work! I pointed to the sign that I still have in my yard from Castle Rock. I handed him a business card for Castle Rock and told him this is the company he needs to call!  If we are ever in need again, we would not hesitate to call them again! Thank you Jen, Steve, Gary and your crew of men! </p> <br />"

"They sent out a inspector then sent out a representative to discuss the options. The representative is very thorough. He spent about 2 hour in my house to explain thing and answer questions. Me and my wife were very satisfied with his knowledge and patience. We got a quote for different type of material and warranties. I really learned a lot from this man. Their price was pretty high, I did not end up having the work done with them. I have a friend referred me to another Master Elite certified roofer in town, who he knows personally. We ended up getting it done with the same job with same type of warranty for about 3/5 of the cost. However, ACE really educated me on roofing and what I should look for. If you have them do your roof, you know you are getting it done right."

"Jason was fantastic he is very knowledgeable and tried really hard (I am very picky) to find my perfect bathroom even though I didn't know what I wanted. All of his workers were clean cut and very respectful, so respectful in fact it is the first time my husband has let someone work on our home without him present. A remodel is scary and these guys really helped take away the scare and get me ready for my new amazing bathroom. <br /> I had used a different company in town and they completely messed up my job because they were $200 cheaper...they were cheaper for a reason! I called Jason and he came over before the end of the day and we worked out everything that needed to be done. His billing was on target and didn't hit me with a bunch of extra like the other contractor did. We need more companies like this in our area. <br />"

"Their price was reasonable and it was the lowest bid we got. We have not done the work yet. He was pretty punctual and was only a couple of minutes late for our appointment. My husband met with him and he was pretty punctual about getting a bid back to us. He provided samples of siding strips right away. I worked with him on a previous housing rehab project so I was familiar with him and his work."

"They're excellent but their prices are very high. Their design services are limited. The quality of their work, from what I've seen from their portfolio is unquestionable, but if you're on a budget, they might not be the best option. They make high quality, high end work. If you have a healthy budget, Scheessele and Sons are an excellent choice because they specialize in the high end construction and remodeling business, but if you're on a budget, they are probably not the correct choice for you because they really cater to high end."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Owensville, IN

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
