"When we started our plan of remodeling, the first thing we did was the complete roof replacement including kitchen vent & duct pipe installation to the roof, and new installation of attic ventilation. MMP did not only completed it just as agreed but also very efficiently. The crews were friendly, professional, and careful. The jobs were carefully managed and implemented effectively. I was impressed by Matt, who is the manager, and he does an outstanding job in managing the crews and the progress of the situation, and the communication was clear and always to the point. We then moved to initiate a search for a contractor of two bathrooms remodeling after completing the roof and attic vent, MMP was one of the many candidates. Matt has had not only the best idea and proposals but also shown an impressive & professional sense of evaluating the project accurately, including the possible structural modification as well as a competitive estimate of the cost of the build. His proposal included a rebuild of a wall of the bathroom to expand another one adjacent to it. Matt accepted to use my schematic design image (made with a software tool) and a spreadsheet list of the fixtures that I created - as many as fifty items including TOTO, Grohe, American Standard, Panasonic, and IKEA - to start the job (later changed some of them due to local plumbing code compliance) After beginning the bathroom remodel project, Matt shared what jobs will be done with us timely and efficiently via text so that we feel comfortable enough in knowing what is going on while living in the house of dust & noise from remodeling. The crews, Zen and Mark, were very courteous, extensively experienced, reliable, and friendly with excellent communication, sometimes with songs of 80s rock music. They ask me when more precise specifications are needed and notified me when they feel advance notifications are required. When a change is necessary due to inspection, they informed me and clarified what and why. I have never felt uncomfortable in living together with the remodel job which has lasted over four months. The completed two bathrooms were stunning, just as I imagined. Matt, Zen, and Mark have proved their strong & thoughtful expertise and lived up with my request patiently until completion. Great job. A home remodeling project cannot be successful without having a trusted partner, and my experience with MMP has led me to be glad to share my confidence that MMP has a credential to become your reliable partner to manage a construction project together."

"I contacted Hector's office in search of a quality service provider to powerwash the exterior of our house. Upon calling, Madeline in the office picked up and informed me that it would be best for Hector to come out and see the work to provide an accurate estimate and that she would follow up later that day to schedule. Just hours later that same day, Madeline informed me that Hector was in the area and I happened to be home! Hector and one of his team members walked the perimeter of the house with me indicating what areas he felt needed attention while being upfront about other areas that looked ok. We agreed on a price that was very fair compared to other estimates I received. Before leaving, I mentioned to Hector that I had a stone patio and firepit in the woods behind our home that could use a washing. Hector again quoted a very reasonable price and said he would have no problem getting all the way back there (nearly 100 yds from house). I read in other reviews that Hector did light exterior paint work and before letting him leave I had him quote a refresh of some of our exterior trim work. Again, Hector was reasonable and fair with pricing for this work. After continuing to add to the job, I added complexity by saying I needed the work done before my son's bday party which was the following weekend. Hector was able to come back the very next day to complete the work! In the end, Hector and his team completed a wash of the entire exterior of the house, parts of the roof that were shaded and had some moss/mold, washing the woodland firepit/patio and painting some of the exterior trim that needed it. The price was right and the house looks amazing. Communication with him and his team was seamless throughout and it helps that the entire team is so friendly, pleasant and honest. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing help with Power/Pressure Washing, Exterior Painting and/or gutter cleaning!!"

"The job was great from start to finish. Brian came out to survey the work and got me a quote promptly. Within two weeks, he and his crew were installing my new front porch. It was done in one day and looks fantastic. I would highly recommend Brian and his crew for any work like this."

"These guys are the greatest! They saved us a lot of money! We had a dumpster before the bullbag and for 3 tons of material and a week rental of the dumpster it cost us $486! We own the bullbag now, had a full bag - 3.5 tons - picked up and it was only $229! We didn't have any rental charges, excess weight fees, or anything! These guys did everything they said they would! OMG! Everyone should use these guys!!!!! Also, I got the bullbag back! I never have to buy another one and its ready to use whenever I feel like doing a clean out or renovation."

"It has been just over two years since we began working with Bob and Jane on the renovation of our house. From beginning to the approaching end, Bob and Jane have always been available, ready to accommodate us with visits to the house, design changes, and ready to provide advice on all matters. They were patient with us as we confronted permit problems and a year’s delay due to the 2015 winter. Without Artios Architects, we would have been lost. Bob’s and Jane’s years of architectural design experience have meant that they have been able to answer all questions and advise on all problems. We are working with a limited budget. Their advice has kept us within it and, at the same time, given us a house that we are very proud to show. Even now, as they visit us during the final construction, they are assisting us in design and color selection. Bob and Jane are sympathetic to our concerns, and clearly take great pride in the realization of their architectural design, and the creation of a livable house that is our home."

"I have never been more satisfied with a construction company and the work done. From the beginning I knew Quinn's was different. My call was promptly returned and an appt was made for Dick to come out and look at the job. My home is large with multiple dormers and porches. This was not a five minute walk around quicky estimate. Dick already had satellite images of my home, and had done a lot of preliminary work. He inspected my attic and eaves for any possible leaks or damage, and to check insulation for venting recommendations. We went over all my options and there was no hard push to sell more than needed. I was given a folder with insurance, and licencing information, as well as insurance agent contact info. Included was other jobs done and reviews from actual customers as well as warranty info, and info on training done by all Quinn's workers. Of four companies brought in for an estimate, Quinn's was the only one to provide this information. My elderly mother and I met with Dick three times before we decided on final project. Tom was always available to come by or call. They were very patient with my mother, and her concerns and worries after a previous contractor had taken advantage of her. They had a port a potty brought in, and were careful to not further damage my already damaged driveway. The crew sent out (Eric's) was amazing. They covered everything, built covers for my mothers flowers and plants, covered our rubber roof and railings on master porch, and cleaned and organized everything at the end of everyday. They walked my mother around and showed her the progress daily. They never made her uncomfortable at all, and made her safety a priority. Really, I can't say enough about how great they were. Tom and Dick and the project manager were here often to check on the job. The price was beyond fair, as is the warranty. They removed two layers of roofing and 2 Layers of siding, and replaced the rotting boards. The window caps that previously leaked were done well. We have had no leaks since the job was completed from the windows or roof. I can't say enough how happy and satisfied I am with Quinn's Construction. I would highly recommend them to anyone."

"I really enjoyed working with Claudio and his crew.  First, Claudio showed up on time for the initial consultation and we agreed upon a price and a date to perform the work.  During the next few days, we texted back and forth about details of the project - Claudio was very responsive to all of my questions.  On the day the work was to be done, Claudio and his crew showed up on time and worked through the whole day to finish the job, until about 9 pm.  The new doors look great! Also, they did a great job of cleaning up all of the construction debris and they vacuumed everything in the apartment after they were done.  I can't say enough good things about Claudio and his guys - they are very professional, responsive, and reasonably priced.  I will definitely be calling them again for my next project.

"I cannot speak highly enough of Tom and Brad Green of Colonial Restorations. We have lived in our antique house for 16 years now, and like most old homes, some of its previous repairs were good, some not so good. Tom Green worked on this house for its previous owners, and his work was, by far, the best in the house. So, we continued to use Colonial - Tom, then Tom and Brad - as we learned the ropes about caring for an old house - our first house, old or new. Over the years, they have replaced sills and posts and beams, and rebuilt parts of our loose stone foundation. Most recently, they replaced the last original posts in our basement, (one of which was a tree trunk still with bark on it), including pouring new custom footings, in advance of our finally cementing the dirt floor. The work here is never easy - nothing is level, nothing is square - but the Greens' end result has always been beautiful - strong and made to last. Their prices are fair and without hidden costs....maybe not the lowest bid you might get, but you know it's a real bid that they will stand behind. They triage projects for us, giving us an idea of what other items will likely need attention in the next few years. We're not done with this house yet....we've never won the lottery, and there's always another repair..... and plan to use them again soon. I feel confident knowing that the next owners of this house, whoever they might be, will see the quality of the work and know that we cared enough to have the right people help us with the ongoing repair and maintenance of a 275+ year old house. I am a real person, a real customer, with no ties to the company, and was more than happy to write this review."

FAQs for shelter or outbuilding building service projects in Oxford, MA

A bomb shelter is an abode built to withstand disaster. Bomb shelters may refer to a space or bunker that can protect inhabitants through a hypothetical nuclear attack, apocalypse, or any other massive crisis. People usually build bomb shelters underground and stock them to live there a few days to a month at a time. Doomsday bunkers accommodate long-term living rather than just through a short crisis.

Builders construct bomb shelters with reinforced steel, box culvert, concrete, or other durable materials (but many professionals do not recommend shipping containers, as they’re not designed to live underground. If building underground, you’ll first have to excavate land before building the actual structure. You’ll have to implement air and water filtration systems, septic systems, and power supply.

It takes a lot of experience to safely and legally construct a bomb shelter, not to mention make sure it’s fit to live in for extended periods of time. It’s best to talk to a residential structural engineer near you for proper guidance.

The current standard filtration systems require filtering both air and water. For air, you’ll want an NBC filter system, which both domestic and international producers make. NBC stands for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical, which filters out all three. If you’re only building your shelter for natural disasters, chemical attacks, and biological attacks, you may opt for the less expensive HEPA filter system.

Water filtration requires the same level of care. You’ll likely want to have a large water storage capacity to survive short-term disasters. For long-term living, you’ll want to have a water filtration system.

Rising S bunker prices depend on the size, ranging anywhere from $20,000 to $9 million. Their least expensive model is 96 square feet while their most expensive model has a gym, swimming pool, hot tub, and bowling alley.

  • Mini: $45,500

  • Standard Bomb Shelter: $67,500–$109,500

  • Silver Leaf: $140,000–$182,500

  • Admiral: $180,000–$500,000

  • Xtreme: $450,000–$780,000

  • Xtreme Bunker Complex: $840,000–$1,830,000

  • Luxury Series: $3,800,000–$9,600,000

You almost always need a permit to build a bunker on land with any type of public utilities running through it. You’ll want to check with your local building code enforcement agency to see if this is the case for your area.

Because you’re building a structural component that often requires electricity, water, and sewage services, you’ll need to apply for permits to attach these utilities to your new property. However, off-grid-only units in rural areas may not need all or any of the permitting you’d normally find in more urban settings.

To survive a nuclear blast, you’ll need to have your bunker at least three feet underground. However, it’s usually advisable to put it further underground. To survive a close strike, you’ll want to have the bunker at least 10 feet down and with five-foot thick reinforced concrete. However, knowing exactly how deep to build depends on the size of the blast you’re trying to avoid. Most bunkers don’t need to be more than 5 feet below the ground.
