"I was very pleased with them! They answered questions or told me when they didn't know answers and then they went and checked and gave me the answers they found. They also even thought to tell me some things which pre-empted some of my questions during the design and build process. The design consultant made a second trip out to show me the details of some hardware and gave me the fine points of why he would recommend each kind so I could make a better decision for myself. The work crew were very skilled, knowledgeable, polite, and communicative, and they obviously took great pride in their work."

"Completed an upgrade to our 40-year-old kitchen w VKB Kitchen & Bath. Calvin worked closely w us on the design to get small cabinet and counter space in our townhouse. Al was our PM for the demolition and build-out phases. Al had the challenge as PM to coordinate demolition, new flooring on 1st level, electrical changes, cabinet installs and new fixtures that we purchased. They installed new disposal and ceiling fixture at no charge. No change orders on project. No gaps on work sequence. Finished in half of the contracted days. Great company, designer and PM."

"Willis Builders was extremely easy to work with; they first persuaded us to let them provide a cheaper and more effective solution than the one we called them about (building a roof extension), and then they completed it in short order. We haven't had water issues since!"

"We initially contacted 5 different contractors for an estimate and we decided to go with FA Outdoor Spaces because they were the most responsive, punctual, and attentive one out of all 5. We had our outdated/not up-to-code deck repaired and they did an awesome job! We are extremely satisfied with the result and I recommended them to multiple friends and neighbors already."

"Overall, I thought the person that came to my home to give an estimate of the patio we wanted to build was not very professional. She came up with a sketch for the patio which did not incorporate the design ideas that I wanted. She was willing to re-sketch the design 2 times to get it right, but then seemed to get annoyed that I asked questions about the materials that were being used, the options that were available...etc. Granted she may have been having a bad week, but I expected more. Ended up going with a different contractor and glad I did because the quote I got from them was $1000 less and I loved the job they did.  <br /> Overall, I would give them a B-. <br />"

"RJ Construction did a fabulous job for us. Robert Altendorf was extremely knowledgeable and his expertise was critical in helping us select the options for deck and screen porch materials and style. We couldn't be more pleased with the promptness in responding to our questions and the quality of the finished project."

"Thank you James Im, Antonio and crew for an amazing experience and a job well done! It is rare these days to find a home improvement company that you can trust from beginning to end. AHC staff and representatives ensured that every detail from estimates, to coordinating delivery of materials and quality control of installation was performed to the highest standards and exactly on time. James and Antonio/crew were attentive to our every question and concern, and in the end made the experience with AHC a memorable one worthy of the highest level recommendation. Bottom line: If you choose any other roof replacement contractor - you will be making a mistake!"

"Manny was great! Hanged, taped, mudded, and sanded roughly 8.5' X 8' wall that I framed... had 'my studs' not been slightly twisted, bowed and warped the wall would be 100% perfect. Manny's work was excellent and the wall is smooth no divots or gaps. I provided the drywall and corner bead. Will definitely hire Manny again!"

"Travis was great.  I am selling my house and he came over and knew exactly what needed done to make it appeal to buyers.  No job was too small.  He did everything from changing a lightbulb (those strange bulbs with the weird connections) to spreading mulch.  In between he painted stairs, painted woodwork, fixed a cabinet door, repaired a screen, power washed the house and walkways, painted the mailbox, etc. etc. <br /> <br /> I will not hesitate to call him again or recommend him to others. <br /> <br /> Ann McCoy"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Oxon Hill, MD

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
