"The work looks to be fine but it was something that time will tell if it works well or not. My low rating on the value for money was because he charges extra per hour when he brings a helper and he brought a helper for something that was to be a small repair easily done by one person. I ended up getting more work done at that time and the cost was ok."

"Roy was very easy to work with.  He carefully measured our windows, even making patterns for the two half-round windows.  He gave us an estimate from which he never wavered, even though he ended up having to order a more expensive window for our bathroom. He was punctual, professional, and his workmanship was excellent. Our windows are not only much more energy efficient, but they also now block much more of the neighborhood sounds, and they enhance our home's curb appeal.  We nightly recommend Roy and Chico Winndows. <br />"

"A little hard the first day. Father and son team. Didn't want to listen to me and not run the heavy equipment up and down with thousands of pounds of loadage on the  portion that wasn't being replaced.  Smoking when I said I had asthma and throwing cigarette butts in my garden.  My street consists of neighbors who keep it clean, there is no trash and we like it that way.  I gave him an ashtray to use, I later found it thrown in the dirt.  Cracks appeared that shouldn't have and my asthma was in full swing the next day.  I called Mark though that nite and he actually fired them and they never came back.  He makes things right.  The next day was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and I was very impressed with the workmanship and the crew.  He even took some of the extra to my neighbors who always help me out and patched up 4 small holes of theirs, something he did not have to do.  Their clean-up was topnotch and he was clear about when I can drive on it.  I presented the new water use restriction rules for Paradise and even though the PID (Paradise Irrigation District) gave me a verbal go-ahead to use potable water for the construction on my off day, Mark is coming back on Friday to finish before 10am so he stays within their perimeters.  He is willing to work with you on every level to make sure as he said "we both walk away happy".  I would hire him again in a minute and suggest you do too. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Palermo, CA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
