"Of course, I had mold. I was surprised at how quickly they recommended Biocide to eliminate my mold problem. I feel like they may be together in the mold removal industry. Having done my research, you are not supposed to have a mold test company and also be a mold removal company, and yet this company seemed to skirt that but not having them be officially affiliated with Mold Test Company."

"They came quickly and took samples to test crawl space for asbestos. Results were back ASAP. Pricing was a bit expensive for what was only a few minutes in home."

"David was very personable and took his time to do a thorough test. He is very efficient and his charges are reasonable. He was able to come to our home at a time that was convenient for us even though it was earlier than his normal business hours. I highly recommend him."

"I am so happy with the way Chris and his team handled my mold remediation and water damage. The initial damage looked fairly small. However as they investigated, it was much larger than I thought. They kept me informed every step of the way and still answered my numerous calls. I was anxious to come back home and they understood this and explained that the drying process has to be at a certain level before the equipment could be removed. I also received an education regarding certifications in this field. I initially called another company and it appears that had no certification and did not find the source of my damage. So glad I chose Restoration 1 of Charlottesville."

"I recently moved my family down to the Charlottesville area from Washington DC on very short notice and ended up in a 100+ year old home that had been unoccupied for 2-3 months and was surrounded by a hay field and woods. Not surprisingly, mother nature did not wait for us to occupy it - she placed some of her own in the house prior to our arrival. We discovered a LOT of insects, which we were comfortable if not effective dealing with. Then we ran across the mice, which were unpleasant, but we believed within our means. We hit our limit when we started finding the snakes. Neither myself nor my wife are lovers of either rodents or insects, but we both have serious problems with snakes and with a 2 and 4 yr old in the house, were were minutes from moving out and never looking back - enter the Blue Ridge Termite and Pest folks. We didn't know them from Adam, but by the grace of God they were the ones that the property management called. They sent an individual out quickly and he inspected the property thoroughly, answered all of our questions completely (and understandably), proposed and executed a comprehensive treatment plan (inside and out), put in place a number of glue traps in order to identify if anything else got in, and then advised us of a number of conditions around the house (i.e. landscaping) that would encourage future intrusions if not addressed (as well as provided some ideas on how we might resolve them). The individual that responded (Justin) not only resolved our problems, but educated us on a number of things that we could do in the future to effectively address minor issues ourselves as well as a multitude of myths that just don't work (many of which I had already tried). I'm happy (incredibly relieved actually) to be able to say that we've never seen or heard any sign of another rodent or snake since they came. There has been a LOT of action at the bait stations that they set up outside the house (per the plan), but not a single uninvited guest has made it into the house as evidenced by the still empty glue traps. I don't have any experience with any of the other pest control companies in the area and thus really can't compare the Blue Ridge Termite and Pest folks to anyone else. Based on the fact that they walked into what I had already determined was a lost cause and not only made it right, but managed to talk both my wife and me off of the ledge and get us back into the game (and saved us having to find/move to another house), I don't see myself ever getting any experience with any other pest control company. <br /> Home <br />"

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Palmyra, VA

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
