"Hired so called professional, unfortunately he did an unprofessional job. Could have done job better myself. So disappointed mostly because I was charged professional fees. $350 for something I could have done fir $50 or less. Watched YouTube and the way they showed (dIY ) would have been neater. Sloppy job guys. So not happy. Used $19 foam with spray paint ( good color match). Need to watch you tube and change products used. Neater outcome. "

"I initially scheduled an appointment with the first person who responded to my inquiry, and they were from a different company. They quoted a price, then later texted a higher amount, and eventually passed the job to a second person who asked for even more. In the meantime, John from IDS called and offered to come out if my first appointment didn’t work out. That afternoon, I contacted John, and he promptly scheduled me for first thing the next morning. John and his assistant arrived ahead of schedule, completed the job in about 30 minutes, and did excellent work. John, if you’re reading this, my neighbor is interested in getting a quote for their problem garage door opener."

FAQs for garage door opener repair or adjustment projects in Pendleton, SC

Garage door costs range somewhat broadly, depending on the type you choose. However, you’ll also need to factor in labor costs, which vary from state to state and between pros.

A chain driven operator costs between $150 - $250. For a belt driven operator it is usually $160 - $450. A screw-driven operator is between $250-$500.

To keep garage door opener repair costs down, you should check that the whole apparatus is working normally on a regular basis. This means making sure that the tracks of your door are greased and fully operational, and that the door itself is in good condition.

Installing a new garage door opener runs from $250 to $500 at least. If your repair costs are close in cost to that range or if your garage door is 10 to 15 years old, you should probably replace it instead of repair.

However, it’s a better idea to fix your garage door opener if it’s less than eight years old or if repair costs are less than replacing.

Garage door openers usually last between 10 and 15 years. However, several factors contribute to how long your garage door opener can last. If you schedule regular inspections and practice proper care, you can maximize your garage door opener’s lifespan, saving money in the long run. As a general rule, practice the same care for your garage door opener as you would the door itself.

These tell-tale signs indicate your garage door is going bad, including:

  • Not closing or opening at all

  • The door reversing when you try to open and/or close it

  • Inconsistent opening and closing; more noise than usual (grinding, scraping, or banging)

  • Sticking or stalling when you try to open or close it

If you experience one or more of these signs, it’s time to call a professional garage door repair service.
