"We moved into our present home in Bennington, Vermont, exactly one year ago. We quickly discovered that the house was in great need of repair. We hired a contractor and got to work removing moldy walls in the garage. That contractor recommended that we continue with James Potter Construction, as Mr. Potter had more time available and it was clear that we would have many tasks. <br /> Mr. Potter responded immediately and we planned a new kitchen, including removal of old linoleum and installation of new bamboo wood floors. We wanted to use local merchants and Mr. Potter was extremely helpful in helping us find the best source for kitchen cabinets. He and his team designed and installed a great new kitchen, complete with a ceramic tile backsplash, new plumbing, and partially customized cabinets. He also made useful suggestions and modifications with an eye to our needs. He supervised the installation of composite counter tops and sink and when the new sink developed flaws, he negotiated with the supplier and the manufacturer to insure that repairs were made promptly and completely. <br /> By the way, Mr. Potter and crew work very amiably with the painters. <br /> Next came windows... we live in a cold climate and several windows had obvious seal failure. We determined to replace all windows and Mr. Potter and his team undertook that job. Once again he was instrumental in locating the best quality replacements at a reasonable price. By now we feel we know the men who work on various jobs and enjoy having them in our home. They are all very competent, careful, polite, friendly, and never leave a mess. <br /> The work has continued. At present Mr. Potter is installing a new ceiling fixture in the dining room, including rewiring. Further work includes more wood flooring on the bedroom (3rd) level of our home, walls that need to be repaired, replacement of a support beam on the front steps, and remodeling a bookcase/cabinet installation in the living room to create a television/fireplace setting. Mr. Potter is already at work scouting prices and materials. I'm sure I'm missing some of the chores that he undertook over the past months. <br /> He has been simply invaluable to us as a local resource, and a reliable, professional and extremely competent workman. We would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone who needs competent construction. <br />"

"I hired Alden Painting this past April to replace some bad siding, install gutters, and paint the exterior of my home. I am more than pleased with their work. The place looks great and I will definitely hire them again when the need arises."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Peru, VT

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
