"I hired this company based on reviews from Angie's list.  My experience was a bit different than the A + rating they had.  The answered my call for a quote and arrived on time.  The communicated in Spanish about everything.  We all walked the house together and I pointed out everything that needed painting.  We had a discussion about the master bath, the last words I heard George senior tell me was "we can fix this".  They quoted me a price of $3400.00 and said if I got everything done at once, he would take $200.00 off.  I didn't get other quotes because I just moved in and time was a factor, so I can't really comment on price.  During the week, they dropped of a large paint sample thing to make may choices from.  They arrived early to start the two-day job, a Friday and a Saturday.  They finished the job on Saturday, as promised.  My master bath was not painted, the wood on the steps was not painted, they removed all the drapery hardware and it was tossed out apparently, they took a blind down in the master bedroom and I had to remind many times for them to fix it, they did with crazy glue.  The walls and ceiling are beautiful but the trim is horrible.  I am still painting over spots that were missed or the paint was wiped off when they cleaned the floors.  There was a quarter sized drop of paint on my maple dining room table.  There was a large spot of white trim paint on the colored wall in the hall, but worst of all I continue to clean small spots and areas where there is white paint on the oak floors. They did do me one favor and lift a TV back up above the fireplace that had been taken down for painting. They did leave all the extra paint in the basement, one bucket not closed and has a paint roller floating in it.  The worst thing was them teasing my dogs and getting them agitated and pushing each other towards them and laughing.  Overall, I don't think I had an "A" experience.  Unfortunately I would not recommend them or use them again.

"I contacted Rent Painters to paint the interior and exterior of my townhouse. I set an appointment with Chris to look at the project. He arrived promptly and we walked through the house. A few days later he provided me an estimate for labor and material. The estimate was fair and I contracted the work. The crew came as agreed and they completed the work in just a few days. The quality of work was excellent. My house looks fully refreshed. I could not be happier with the end product. I will call them again for my next paint project and I highly recommend them!"

"The overall experience was exceptional. Luis meet with my wife and I and did a walk thru of the property and provided us with an estimate within an hour of the walk-thru. I already had heard excellent things about his company from numerous co-workers who had FDC paint their home. I truly feel like we got an extreme value in terms of the service we received for the price. Since our house was a new build, we had a number of cracks and nail pops associated with the home settling. Also, entire house to include walls ceiling and trim was a blah beige. Needless to say, FDC had their work cut out for them. Luis and his team skimmed and sanded all these areas and repaired the drywall making the necessary repairs as part of their prep work. Once painting had begun, he provided a daily up date on the project and sent pictures. We meet on numerous occasions to go over things and I was blown away by he and his crews attention to detail. He not only meet the deadline but was able to get the whole house done a day early. He and his team treated our home like it was their own. Not a single corner was cut and he went above and beyond to make the house perfect. I recommend Luis and FDC Proffesional Painting to anyone who is looking to transform their home and eliminate all stress. Don't waste your time calling multiple painters to get estimates so you can haggle pricing. Just call Luis and he will work with you to meet your needs at your budget. Additionally, all work is backed by a 3 year warranty so if there are any issues or our scratch a wall moving in he and his team will come back and make touch ups or repairs free of charge. My wife and I plan to have FDC come back in the winter to paint our finished basement."

"Orlando and his crew replaced rotten wood, removed rust from metal trip, and prepped and painted the entire house. They came back to fix any areas that weren't finished to my satisfaction. The cost was reasonable and their work was excellent. I highly recommend this company."

"Perfect - he repaired the wall and I can't even tell it was repaired - I was amazed on how well he blended in the patch - there was no way I could have even come close to that level of professionalism if I would have attempted the repair myself - would absolutely use him again!!!!"

"VRN Masonry repaired our patio, repaired the block supporting our garage wall, and poured concrete to fill in under our front porch. They responded quickly and meet our need to get the work done quickly. The quality of the work is very good. We are pleased with the work they did--it certainly met our needs. They also cleaned up well when the work was completed."

"Christian Wells, the president of 5th Gen, is a real craftsman.  The quality of the work is truly outstanding ? the room has a definite finish and polish that it lacked before.  One example of Christian's attention to detail is s a cabinet door that had to be trimmed on the bottom because the new countertop underneath was (at our request) half an inch higher than the old one.  The bottom edge of the door, instead of just being cut with a flat edge, has been milled to the same molded shape as the original bottom.
Christian was a good source of practical ideas, such as alternative ways of laying the hardwood floor, LEDs
for the under-cabinet task lights instead of the fluorescents we originally had specified, and a solution for a clearance problem around the dishwasher.
Besides taking obvious pride in the work product, Christian is very professional.  He responded quickly to telephone calls or emails, came to all appointments with us on schedule, started work when agreed, and finished on schedule.  He contracted to do the job at a fixed price, and varied from it only for three small unanticipated items, in each case obtaining our agreement before proceeding with the change.  The price was not a bargain, but was eminently reasonable in light of the quality of the work.  We were away while the work was going on, and he sent us photographs occasionally to show us how work was progressing.
In addition to this job, 5th Gen previously did some minor repair work for us.  The experience was just as positive.  While we did not meet the crew who did the kitchen job because we were away, the workers Christian assigned to the repair job were able and pleasant.
At our recommendation, 5th Gen also recently constructed a rooftop deck for our neighbor. The quality of that work also appears to be high, and the neighbor was quite happy with it.

FAQs for traditional stucco repair or partially replace projects in Philomont, VA

Minor stucco fixes—like sealing small cracks or adding fresh caulk—often wrap up in an hour or two. Larger jobs that call for cutting out damaged sections, installing new lath, and layering fresh stucco can stretch to three or four days because each coat needs time to cure. A pro removes loose material, cleans and dampens the area, applies a bonding agent, and builds up new layers, matching texture and restoring the wall’s weather shield.

Watch for a stucco surface that stays damp days after a storm, develops dark stains, or feels soft or spongy under light pressure. Inside, moisture rings, peeling paint, or soft drywall around windows point to the same issue. Any of these red flags mean water is trapped behind the siding, and it’s time to call a stucco pro before rot or mold sets in.

Give your stucco a once-over every spring and fall. Semiannual checks let you catch hairline cracks, stains, or damp spots before they snowball into pricey repairs. Keep a flashlight handy, look closely around windows and doors, and call a pro if you notice anything soft or discolored. Staying ahead of minor issues protects both your curb appeal and your home’s weather barrier.

A pro starts by scraping away loose material, then cleans and lightly wets the area so new stucco will stick. After brushing on a bonding agent, they build fresh layers, letting each coat cure before adding the next. The final step is matching the texture and color so the patch blends in and the wall regains full weather protection.

Think of repair as a patch: the pro fixes only the visible crack or hole. Remediation goes deeper—crews strip away the compromised stucco, correct the root problem (often water or mold), then rebuild the wall. If tests show structural rot or trapped moisture, remediation is the safer, longer-lasting route; otherwise, a straightforward repair often does the trick.
