"We hired Mold Test Company to conduct post testing on a home damaged by a hurricane. They had the best price point of any of the companies I contacted, but you get what you pay for. After my initial contact with the company, I could not reestablish contact with them for over a week as their phone system was having issues. I was about to hire another company when I received a follow-up call from them. At this point I was advised they were having phone problems and I decided to go ahead and hire them for our testing. The technician that conducted the testing was professional and overall provided a positive experience. We were told that we should receive the results of the test in about 48 hours. It took 11 days and multiple calls and emails to get our results. We were initially provided with an inaccurate report that stated visible mold was found in the home. There was no visible mold in the home so when we asked the analyst about it he stated that some of the information in the report was prepopulated and must not have been changed. While reviewing the results with us,the analyst said he could refer us to a company for further remediation products. We were soon greeted by an unprofessional salesman from the other company trying to sell very overpriced remediation products. Our home is under contract and the lack of professionalism dealing with mold test company may put our sale in jeapordy. At this point, I feel like we will more than likely have to hire another company to conduct the testing again. With all of the miscommunication and lack of attention to detail I fear our test from these guys may not be valid. Do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for a reputable local company."

"Brad knows his products and is very passionate about them. He believes in the items that he sells, and for good reason. We bought several items from him and have been nothing but happy with them. Our vintage home smells SO FRESH! We'd had mold years earlier and had to go through remediation. I developed mold-induced asthma, which was having a very negative impact on my quality of life. We have 3 cats and 2 dogs in the house, which creates a LOT of dust. Even though we vacuum dauly and shampoo the carpets every month, the fur is ever-present. Additionally, we have chickens that live outside, but our smaller breeds have to come into our mud room during the winter. Birds are very dusty! I am also an opera singer, but my asthma had gotten so bad that I was actually getting dizzy while trying to practice! These air scrubbers make a noticeably IMMEDIATE difference and are so easy to maintain! They're quiet too. I can breathe again with NO INHALERS OR MEDS! "

"Everyone was easy to work with. The crew was very pleasant and hard-working, and their leader, Dave was great. Ken was kind to include a few extra details in the agreed price. My only concern was that the working procedures with the mold seemed a little lax . I expected the materials to be bagged up in airtight plastic, but they were just piled loose into their van.I thought the room would be sealed off from everything. The way upstairs was sealed off with plastic, but the door downstairs was simply open into the garage, which had its large door open and a machine blowing out the air from there. But on the whole we were very pleased."

"It was a pricey service, but it was money well-spent.  The crew was very thorough and worked hard to eliminate all of the mold.  They removed and replaced rotten wood, removed carpet, and moved kitchen cabinetry.  Furthermore, they were friendly and professional, they completed the work in a reasonable amount of time, and they were diligent enough to seal off the house to prevent the spread of mold spores."

"Very well. Basement is now dry and small dehumidifier keeps dampness level very low. Crawl space no longer leaks large volumes of air to the outside, is now dry, and large dehumidifier keeps dampness out. In turn this has reduced dirty and cold air intrusion into the first floor, eliminated mustiness, and dried out mold."

"Tony and his crew did an excellent job.  He was very easy to work with, upfront about everything, and very knowledgable about how to waterproof crawlspaces.  <br /> We've been having issues with water in our crawlspace and I didn't know what to do about it.  I had another company look at it and they just wanted to encapsulate the whole thing without actually addressing the issue of why water was coming in there in the first place.  Tony explained the reasons why water was getting in there and gave a quote that was cheaper than the other guy (and that made more sense), which actually sounded like it was going to fix the problem.  <br /> They fogged the crawl space to kill mold spores, wiped down all the rafters, installed french drains around the perimeter of the crawl space, drilled holes in the lower foundational blocks to relieve water that was pooling in the blocks (which drained into the french drains).  The drains were then routed to a sump pump they installed.  They then sealed the entire crawls space using insulation and a heavy duty and high quality vapor barrier.  After that they installed piping in the front of the house to route water that was pooling there around to the side. <br /> Tony and his crew were very nice and punctual for the 3 days that it took them to do the install.  We requested that when they fogged the house, they do it at 9am to coordinate with my wife's schedule, and they did so without issue.  After the job was finished he came back out to my house to ensure I was happy with it.  They left my house in better condition than when they arrived and I commented to my wife that the crawl space looked clean enough to sleep in. <br /> I would definitely recommend this company to anybody who needs similar work done. <br />"

"I purchased a preventive maintenance and termite inspection from PestX. Technician Greg Blevins was prompt, thorough, and did an excellent job. He sprayed indoor places I requested and outdoors, mopped cobwebs on the porch and other outdoor areas on the house, inspected the air vents and crawlspace, termite inspection, and made recommendations. I will use PestX again in the future!"

FAQs for mold & toxic material test projects in Pilot Mountain, NC

Some companies offer a no‑cost phone or video consultation that screens for red flags. If the discussion points to a real issue, the pro will recommend a paid on‑site inspection. The complimentary call clarifies whether you need full testing, but it isn’t a substitute for samples, lab work, or a written report. Always confirm what the free service covers before you schedule.

A standard inspection, which includes basic air and surface samples, takes an average of two hours. If the pro needs to probe hidden spaces, such as wall cavities or ductwork, plan on up to six hours. Extra time allows the inspector to reach tight areas, collect additional samples, and document findings. Lab analysis is a separate process and often adds several business days to the overall timeframe before you receive the full report.

Mold thrives where moisture lingers and air flow is poor. Common hotspots include bathroom walls, kitchen backsplashes, window sills, HVAC vents, fireplaces, crawl spaces, and enclosed attics. Check these areas regularly—especially after leaks or high‑humidity weather—to catch growth early and avoid costly repairs.

Unchecked mold can knock 20% to 37% off a home’s market value because buyers worry about hidden damage and health risks. Even after remediation, visible staining or a history of major moisture issues can still lower offers and prolong the time on the market. Addressing mold quickly protects both your property’s structural integrity and its resale appeal.
