Based on the 3 bids, it seemed certain we'd need a subpanel breaker box installed as our main breaker box was full and there were no empty slots to assign to the EV charger. However, only Tommy from Fairway offered up a potential solution within the existing breaker box, if they were able to source a hard to find quad breaker. It seemed unlikely, but would save a lot of hours (new box install / wiring under the house) and money. Sure enough, he source the part and made it happen. Tom answered the phone himself, and when I explained the problem he tried to solve it over the phone (no charge) by having me trip the circuit breakers and gfi's. I told him we had already done this... and we had. Multiple times. So Tom sent out a tech that day, and gave me a 2-hour time window. The tech arrived well within the window. Turns out it was a GFI, hidden in a corner of the garage where no one had ever thought to look. But the tech found it, because even though he couldn't see it, he said he knew it had to be there. Helped me move an old arcade machine out of the way, and there it was. The icing on the cake is, he said our panel box was up to code. Well worth the $140 service charge (plus $20 to replace the GFI) for that information! I will definitely call Excel again, and definitely NOT the other company (who will also be getting a very different review)."
