"Zack was incredible. He made my ceiling look night and day from what it was! My skylight leaked into my master bathroom. I had the skylight removed and tried to patch the hole myself. Ha didn't work. I contacted Zack to fix the ceiling. It looks like the skylight was never there. It's beautiful! Flushed with the rest of the room, flawlessly! I would use him on my next home and any future products. I would also recommend him to anybody in the community. He's polite, trustworthy, punctual and keeps you informed on the product. Also, incredible pricing!! Thank you, Zack!"

"Overall, great work. Very professional. One minor mishap… when installing the pane the first time, the installer broke the new pane just as he was finished up. Had to make another and come back to install several days later. They did a nice job coming up with an alternate solution for vinyl trim that is no longer made."

"Mike at Gatsby Glass has been extremely helpful with having my late mom's beveled mirror restored. Mike's manor, work ethic and professionalism have been pristine! Mike did exactly what he said he would do! He followed through, kept me informed and that's huge! This mirror means a lot to me because I went to the World Trade Center with my mom when she bought it many years ago that day! Its one of a kind. Mike and Stephen delivered, cleaned and hung my mirror today and did an amazing job! I'm so grateful to have found Gatsby Glass and will certainly use them again in the future. Thank you again for restoring the beveled glass in this beautiful one of a kind mirror! Huge thanks to Mike!"

FAQs for mirrors installation and replacement projects in Plano, TX

If your mirror needs recoating, mirror resilvering costs between $110 and $350. Otherwise, you can replace just the glass if your mirror has a frame. You can get a mirror cut at a home improvement store or cut it yourself with a glass cutting tool. If the damage is extensive, there’s a chance you’ll have to replace both the frame and the glass.

Mirrors come in nearly any size, with your local home improvement store usually having 48-inch by 72-inch mirrors for a home gym or dance studio. You can also buy custom-designed mirrors in whatever size fits your needs. Oversized mirrors often start at $1,000 or more, depending on the size and design.

Mirrors are expensive because manufacturing them requires specialized machinery, such as a furnace that reaches ultra-high temperatures to produce molten glass, then a way to cool and form the glass. You cut mirrors with a diamond saw and coat them with metal to create a reflective surface. A silver-backed mirror also requires a chemical process, though most mirrors have an aluminum backing now. A framed mirror can also add to the price.

To look for a quality mirror, consider its purity, flatness, thickness, and reflective coating on the glass. The glass purity can ensure a distortion-free reflection, and thicker glass can decrease the chances of distortion as well. The reflective coating makes a difference, and high-quality mirrors will have several thicker coats of reflective material, like tin-mercury, aluminum, or silver.
