"BP Glass & Mirror responded quickly to our inquiry, set an appointment, and arrived promptly. After evaluating the project and knowledgeably discussing it, we received a written quote within an hour. A mere 8 days later they called to say the replacement glass was in and scheduled installation, which was accomplished that afternoon. Everything about working with BP glass has been a pleasure. The work was done quickly and efficiently with a quality product, and the cost very reasonable (especially considering that another company had quoted more that 50% more, but then declined the job because they didn’t work on the brand of door we have). I highly recommend Mario and BP Glass & Mirror, and thank Angi for helping us get in touch with them."

"I contacted Bruno about cutting and installing a mirror. He was very helpful and efficient. He had the 16 x 20 mirror cut, and he installed it. While he was here, I asked him if he could hang a 15 lb. picture for me. He brought out all his tools and did a perfect job. Bruno is very personable and knowledgeable. He goes out of his way to do an excellent job. I highly recommend him."

"John did an excellent job with the entire job.  He kept us updated throughout the day, and the quality of the work was superb.  Our house has all original double-hung windows (circa 1950) with storm windows on almost all of them.  Many of the storm windows have been painted a few times over the years, making them even harder to remove for cleaning.  Even with the unexpected challenges, John stuck to his original bid and did an excellent job cleaning both sides of the storm windows.  One of the storm windows got stuck when being put back in and cracked.  John apologized, covered the repair cost, and quickly returned to put it back in for us a few days later.
Our house looks completely different with clean windows!!  I would highly recommend Roth Window Cleaning Services.  They did an excellent job at a great price, and John was a pleasure to work with on this project!

FAQs for mirrors installation and replacement projects in Minneapolis, MN

If your mirror needs recoating, mirror resilvering costs between $110 and $350. Otherwise, you can replace just the glass if your mirror has a frame. You can get a mirror cut at a home improvement store or cut it yourself with a glass cutting tool. If the damage is extensive, there’s a chance you’ll have to replace both the frame and the glass.

Mirrors come in nearly any size, with your local home improvement store usually having 48-inch by 72-inch mirrors for a home gym or dance studio. You can also buy custom-designed mirrors in whatever size fits your needs. Oversized mirrors often start at $1,000 or more, depending on the size and design.

Mirrors are expensive because manufacturing them requires specialized machinery, such as a furnace that reaches ultra-high temperatures to produce molten glass, then a way to cool and form the glass. You cut mirrors with a diamond saw and coat them with metal to create a reflective surface. A silver-backed mirror also requires a chemical process, though most mirrors have an aluminum backing now. A framed mirror can also add to the price.

To look for a quality mirror, consider its purity, flatness, thickness, and reflective coating on the glass. The glass purity can ensure a distortion-free reflection, and thicker glass can decrease the chances of distortion as well. The reflective coating makes a difference, and high-quality mirrors will have several thicker coats of reflective material, like tin-mercury, aluminum, or silver.
