"David showed up when he said, he was professional, and he helped me build a shed in my backyard. He completed it quickly and cleaned up after himself. The shed has been in use for over a year now and has not had any problems. He saved me a weekend of work in a few hours."

Customers say: Quality work

"Dan returned my call in a very timely and professional manner at a time when it was extremely busy on the South Shore and especially in Rockland. We had the makings of a serious leaking problem behind the siding in our home and Dan was not only the ONLY company to call us back he gave us a fair price and was honest about what he could and could not do and made no promises. The men were very careful when they removed the snow from our roof as to where they were throwing it to make sure they did not damage anything on the ground or the awning over our door. There was also someone on the ground to shovel the snow off the walkways that had already been cleared. They placed "ice melt socks" that my husband and I had made at the suggestion of the fire department otherwise we would have no other way to get them on the roof. One of our neighbors ended up hiring them right then and there to remove snow from their roof also. We may hire them again if need be and also again in the spring to give us a new roof. Thanks Dan for such great and timely service with a smile. It is nice to do business with a company that does not want to swindle homeowners in their time of need. We truly appreciate that as much as we appreciate the wonderful work you did."

Small jobs welcome

"Dave has done so many projects around my house and I am so grateful for him. From painting to repairs, to carpentry, to assembling furniture, to fixing literally anything, Dave is my go to! He can always figure out how to get the job done. Sometimes I request a â lipstick on the pigâ job and other times, he will fully repair or replace something. Dave is very trustworthy and he always does a great job."

"Back River Builders couldn't have been more professional or any better. The owner was a great communicator and always up to date. He was transparent, with the cost. They showed up on time. If you're looking for a company you want to trust, they can handle it. They did everything on the addition. They treat your house like it's your own. They clean up after themselves. They cared about where they parked in your driveway. The workers were all good guys. There was no cursing. It was a super and professional environment. You don't get that from too many companies, in my experience. These guys certainly separated themselves, from the rest of the contractors out there. Their prices are okay. You can tell they pay good, to have good workers."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Plympton, MA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
