"We had a few areas in our kitchen where the granite had been worn and damaged with something (it's a rental, so we dont know what). It's a dark blue granite, so the area where it looked like the surface had been eaten away at was very visible. Marble Life came out and polished everything, and ground/polished/buffed the damaged areas. The granite looks great now, and the damaged areas all look like new except for a small part of the worst one. They worked at it for quite a while, and Im convinced it's the best it could be. They did a great job. <br />"

"From start to finish it was a great experience! I love supporting local and family-owned businesses when I can and working with Joey and Cathi was great! The tuck-pointing looks amazing. Joey took the time to custom match the existing mortar as close to perfect as you could get, he takes great pride in his work and the quality was impressive! Cathi kept open and reliable lines of communication with me throughout the entire project. My neighbors were all impressed with the quality of work! I would highly recommend!"

"This is the second year I have used Big Earth for my landscaping supplies. In the summer of 2014, I purchased a few yards of top soil and ~120 bags of mulch (eucalyptus) so I could redo my landscape. This year I just needed to touch up the mulch itself, which washed away during several rains (I had no gutters!). <br /> Anyway, I basically made all the arrangements via email, which is very convenient for me because I work a lot. I verified pricing and delivery fee to my area, and knew exactly what I wanted/needed. If you need help calculating how many bags/yards based off your cubic footage, they can provide their recommendation to you as well. Delivery itself was easy to schedule too. <br /> Everyone I dealt with was incredibly easy to work with, and very nice/responsive - from email communication to the guy that delivered the product. They even gave me an estimate for sod too (very reasonable), but I declined because I had my hands full with weeding/mulching and I didn't want the sod to die (but I digress). <br /> I highly recommend going through Big Earth - I know I'll be contacting them again next year! <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Polk City, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
