 Getting a quote for the job was very straight-forward with JM Plumbing & Mechanical.  I sent a message to JM Plumbing and Mechanical through Angie's List message feature.  I described the 3 problems and received a prompt response with a quote of $350.  Jerry and TJ arrived ahead of the scheduled time, and got right down to business.  They let me know the sequence they would be working on the issues and immediately shut off the water and got to work.  After the work started, I mentioned another problem with the water running in the toilet and Jerry said he would look at that as well.  They were prepared with the parts they needed for the initial repair requests, but needed additional parts for the toilet repair so went to Home Depot to get those and then returned and completed the shower handle, toilet repair, and outside faucet repair very quickly.  Then TJ got under the house, found the leaky pipe and caulked that.  That job alone was a big relief to get taken care of.  Considering the crawlspace under this house, I had no idea how much something like this would cost to have fixed, but it was completed by TJ like it was no big deal.  Before leaving, two more issues came up unrelated to my original request.  Jerry was very sincere in offering to check those out as well and did so in a matter of minutes.  I could not be more satisfied with the value I received for $350 and would definitely use this company again.

"Vortex Plumbing did a great job! It was quite an extensive process. It takes days to re-pipe a whole house and I was expecting to be without running water for a few of those. Baldeep did his best to make our inconvenience as little as possible. He and his crew did as much preparation as possible and only had to turn off our water for about 3 hours during the whole process. Vortex Plumbing is a professional and honest company and I would use them again in the future."

"CHRISTOPHER & COMPANY EMPLOYEE STEVE ASSESSED THE PROBLEM, EXPLAINED HIS SOLUTION, WENT TO HOME DEPOT TO PURCHASE MATERIALS AND CAME BACK TO REPAIR THE DRY ROT DAMAGE.  HE REMOVED THE DRY ROT AREAS OF THE DOOR AND DOOR FRAME AND THEN REPLACED THE DAMAGED AREAS WITH PLASTIC SO WE DON'T NEED TO WORRY ABOUT DEALING WITH DRY ROT IN THIS AREA AGAIN.  HE CAULKED AREAS TO MAKE A COMPLETE SEAL.  HE PAINTED THE  AREAS WHERE THE REPLACEMENT MATERIALS BUTTED UP AGAINST THE REMAINING AREAS TO MAKE A FINISHED LOOK THAT BLENDED WITH THE OLD, REMAINING ADJACENT AREAS OF THE DOOR AND FRAME.  
ALSO HAD HIM GIVE US AN ESTIMATE FOR REPLACING TWO DOORS ON OUR GARDEN SHED.
PLUS HAD HIM LOOK AT A DRY ROT AREA UNDER THE KITCHEN SINK.  STEVE EXPLAINED HOW HE WOULD GO ABOUT REPLACING THE UNDER SINK AREA MAKING CERTAIN THE  SUPPORTING WALL WAS ADEQUATELY REPAIRED TO  CONTINUE THE SUPPORT OF THE TILED COUNTER TOP. 
CLEANED UP THE AREA WHERE HE WORKED AND REMOVED ALL DEBRIS.

they were solid.  liked the guy who came out.  he tried his best to get our water heater replaced by the water heater company, but ultimately they would only pay for a replacement, at which point i cut my losses and hired someone else - b/c the water heater was 19 years old and it would have been a temporary fix.

"Job did not go well. The two guys were very courteous, but not experience with house siding. The chimney was clad in same siding as house horizontal 6 inch cedar. They didnt put the new siding on level or even uniform spacing. Left gaps in the structure that would have caused water damage. The owner refunded part of our money.

"Previously we had hired another company to replace our windows, however the results were messy and didn't look correct to us. We had them stop work and called 3 other installers for bids. We hired Ethos because Bill explained in detail all that was incorrect with the first installation. He gave us a bid for the remaining windows plus repaired all the incorrectly installed windows for free. "Don't hire anyone else. If you're looking for a company run by someone who understands what customer service looks like, call Perma-Dry. 4 years ago we worked with Perma-Dry to install an internal basement footing drain system - they were prompt, responsive, and did a great job. We've had zero issues. We recently discovered an issue with an old external drainage system (not installed by Perma-Dry) which backed up during a thunderstorm. When I discovered the issue, I called Ryan (owner) to get some help; he showed up at 9am on a Saturday (his day off) and spent 5 hours with me troubleshooting the issue and coming up with a temporary fix until he could get a crew out to install a permanent fix. He not only was a huge help, but his attitude was incredible - he was actually having fun working on his day off. In the 12 years I've owned my house, I've worked with dozens of contractors and never had an experience like that. True customer service is a lost art, Ryan and his team have shown us twice that they understand how to take care of customers and care enough to do the right thing."

"It did not turn out well for us. They were obviously too busy to do a good job. They did not address any of our needs. They pushed us in a certain direction. I was not happy with them at all. When they left, I said that I could not deal with them. I was interested in the quote that they gave us. It did not have a list of any expenses. I just did not like their approach. They did not seem to be professional. I was very uncomfortable with them. They wanted me to do most of the work, ask the questions and call them. However, I did get an idea of what I am going to do, because the price is too high. They just went through what was the best thing for me. I did ask them for two things; what if we kept one part of the kitchen the same, what would it cost me and if we tore it down what would it cost me. They just ignored that. I did not have any more time to deal with them; I was not impressed with them to start with. I just paid for the big deal. I am very busy and do not have time to start another task. I would not use them again."
