"My high end, expensive gaming computer would not boot.  I could get to the command prompt and see that the c: drive had become the f: drive, but I didn't know what this meant nor how to fix it.  I could have tried to replace the drive, but I would't know for sure if that was the problem, so I would risk buying hardware that didn't fix the problem, plus all the lost time and frustration trying to fix an important device.   I could not install the operating system again because there was no c: drive.   I am comfortable with software problems, but hardware problems are beyond my expertise. <br /> I took it to Amir for diagnosis.  I had read good reviews about HB Computers from Angie's List.  The up front charge was $50 to diagnose.  The $50 would be deducted from the final fix price if I decided to let them fix it.   <br /> He called me later that day (I had dropped it off in the morning) with the diagnosis.  As I suspected, the problem was the solid state drive -- it needed to be replaced (stay away from the OCZ brand).  The final charge would be $295, or $245 including the $50 diagnostic credit.  This included tax. <br /> The price seemed fair.  The drive price averaged $150, so the labor was around $150.  Having the piece of mind that this was the problem and the time it saved me was worth it to me.  He called me back late the next day saying it was ready for pickup. <br /> So overall it was a 1 day turnaround for diagnosis, 1 day for fix.  He said it typically takes 24-48 hours for diagnosis, 24-48 hours for a fix. <br /> He had recommended and, upon my approval, installed a 250 GB Samsung solid state drive.  He assured me it was the best available and very reliable.  He said there is a 5 year manufacturer warranty and a 30 day service warranty. What I REALLY liked was that he said that if the drive fails within the warranty and I bring it back to him, he would take care of the process.  It does me no good to wait for over a month without a computer to possibly get a warranty filled from Samsung.  <br /> I would not hesitate to use HB Computers to diagnose and fix future problems I can't readily fix myself.  Their prices are reasonable and they have earned my trust. <br />"
