"We are very happy with the work done on our remodeled bathrooms. Patrick and his assistant Mick proved to be very skilled craftsmen. We had a wide variety of projects for them to complete and they did them all in a professional and timely manner. They both have great communication skills as well. Patrick's response time to any questions we had was amazing. After you meet Patrick and work with him, it is very easy to tell that he really cares about his customers. He truly wants everyone to be satisfied with the work that Happy to Help did. We wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"The Overall I purchased a house with their tile work already completed. It seems to be successfully keeping my basement dry. The service technician I worked with was excellent, I expect to continue to have their services performed. In addition we attempted to work with them to do estimates on an egress window, tile removal, and full basement remodel. I don't plan on proceeding with additional projects with them. 1. They are consistently the highest cost option. 2. The two sales reps we have work with have been unsatisfactory at communication and converting our goals into a plan of actions. Their price could be justified if you (a) believe they have a superior product [which they might] and (b) they add considerable value in planning/service [which we haven't seen]. If they don't list "John X" as a reference on their promo info. I will happily share my experiences to help ensure you know what to expect. The good. 1. Their phone support in the office is excellent. Friendly people take my calls. 2. They installed a dry basement system in my house for the previous owner. It seems to work. 3. I have the perception they offer quality products that are well thought out to work in basement situations. 4. The service tech that came to our house (4/6/18) was excellent. 5. I think if I wanted just their line of products in their proprietary line they could do a job, but... The Bad. 1. ... if you want them to do anything outside of their wheelhouse they seem to stall and not know how to leverage sub contractors. We asked for comprehensive remodeling, but struggled a lot with leveraging other skilled labor. 2. The estimates we have received don't incorporate the goals and desires we feel that we expressed. My perception has been that they try to sell their main lines of products instead of trying to meet our goals. They will send you a packet of promo info... it will show you their main lines. 3. The time/effort it took to get the initial estimates seems to make it prohibitive to try to work with them to get to a place where we want to be. 3. Terrible follow-through at the sales rep level. We have had two people come to give estimates. The first in Feb 2017 (Chris G), who we never heard back from. Then again in Feb 2018 (Brian K) and it has involved "badgering" to get any sort of movement. 4. Price. Always the highest price when we had multiple estimates."

"The first reach-in closet had some problems, but they were rectified by the owner himself. Because of that great service we went on to add the other closet areas. Not only are the closets extremely practical & well-laid out, the installation was quick (with no mess left by the installers) and our sales person had terrific ideas to maximize our closet spaces."

"The Waunakee guys arrived in less than a week and did an amazing job on the gutter. Cannot tell it was ever bent. As a bonus they unclogged a downspout that I had failed to get clean on multiple tries. From here forward, I will call Waunakee Remodeling first for gutter repairs and replacement. I could not be more satisfied with the result I got. I expect that when the next rain hits, the gutters will do their work."

"This is an outstanding business and I would highly recommend them. I hired them several years ago to power wash my sister's huge house which was filthy on the outside. The team hand washed the whole house and worked so hard in 90 degree heat. They took a lot of pride in their work and did an outstanding job. The neighbors would walk by the house afterward and would not be able to put their hand on why it looked so good and when I told them it was because of the power wash that was done they wanted to know who did the work so they could make note of the company if they needed work done in the future. They have also done numerous gutter cleanings on my house and are reasonable priced, very professional, and do a very thorough job. The rep even made sure to get some of the dust from the shingles that had been in my gutter for a while scraped off so that it would not build up even further. I have never had a gutter company do that! I give this company my highest compliments. They are a pleasure to do business with."

"It couldn't have gone better, and that's coming from someone that's incredibly detail-oriented. Mick was in and out of our house for almost a year between all of the various projects he completed, I can't think of a thing to complain about. He's focused, detailed, flexible, reasonably priced and a genuinely good person. On top of that, his work is beautiful. If he patches a wall (even a large patch), you'd never guess that there was a hole in the first place. When we decided on handmade tile for our shower, he laid the tile methodically so that the natural variations in height flowed seamlessly. Our bathroom cabinets had to fit in a tight space, and his measurements were spot on. I didn't take us long to realize that we could trust him with any project in his wheelhouse, which took a big weight off of us as homeowners. Finally, when the inevitable hiccups did occur (just a regular part of remodeling), he was happy to sit down with us and find the right solution. He was also unerringly patient and friendly when I asked him to explain a piece of the project to me in further detail. He will guide you through a project, but still leave you feeling like a partner. Truly, I can't say enough good things. We recommend him with no reservations. He worked for us during the pandemic and was always careful so that everyone stayed safe."

"I ordered quite a few pieces of furniture (Dining Table, TV Stand, Dresser, End Table, Desk, and Bed Frame) online and found out quite quickly that I do not have the patience to put these together, so I put out some quote requests to a few different places. Mikey was the first to respond and was very upfront of the costs. He was extremely professional and punctual. I had absolutely no issues and was able to go about my day as he was working. Not all my pieces came in when he was here and will be hiring him again for the last couple of pieces! EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED!"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Poynette, WI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
