"I first became familiar with Fine Finishes when Mitch and his crew worked at my home as sub-contractors during an exterior renovation and window installation last year where they stained the windows as well as some painting to match the existing colors around the windows. So when we decided to have our master bedroom painted, Fine Finishes was my first thought on who to call. I had a narrow timeframe to have the work scheduled, and Mitch was able to accommodate. The painter who did the work was prompt, professional and did a fantastic job. I would definitely use them again and recommend!"

"Tom and his crew did a stunning job transforming our great room. Ceilings and walls – in places in and around cabinets, wood stove, decorative cabinet insets and shelves – are all now neat, crisp, and bright. They were able to correct a myriad of dings and pops (some pretty nasty!) to the point that I really cannot see any of those flaws anymore, far exceeding my expectations. Plus, Tom’s expertise really helped me to sort out exactly the color and finish I was shooting for. The work was all done in professional manner, very considerate of our home and our time; and all at a great price! Highly recommended."

"Pete was prompt and courteous during the initial estimate. He gave us a window of time when he would be able to do our decks and he was even able to get the work done as promised before the date we asked for. He helped us match new stain to the previous stain that we were keeping on the deck rails. The match turned out perfectly and it would be difficult for anyone to tell that the rails and the deck-boards are done with two different stains. About a week after the work was completed and paid for, we received a check in the mail from Pete for $300.00. His note stated that he had spent less time staining the deck than expected and was refunding the "over-paid" amount back to us! We could not be more pleased."

"This is a transcript detailing the events of our transaction: On 7/24/17, my wife met with Matt. Matt did some initial measurements and offered us a quote the same day. We accepted the proposal on the 28th and signed documents on the 31st. On 8/7/17, we received an email stating that our product was ordered. I quickly replied that no one had come to take any final measurements. Apparently this was a miscommunication and the final measurement was needed. We inquired when this would get done on 8/16. I don’t have any email records of when the final measurement was done, as this was all arranged via phone call. At the time of the final measurement, we were informed that because of the windows we wanted, it would require additional work to be done (interior trim, etc.). The insert windows would fit in the existing trim but reduce the actual glass space. This was not conveyed in any way during the initial visit with Matt. We agreed that we would like to go with the “thicker” windows and pay for the interior trim work ($1800). The final measurements were taken and the stain that would be used for the basement trim work was noted. Upon inquiring about an update to the status of the project on 9/27/17, I informed Chris that I had found the exact stain that was used for the basement trim work. I asked for the contact information for the gentleman who came to do the final measurements so that I could update him on the stain color. Chris got back to me the same day regarding an install date of 10/30 but provided no contact information for me. From another email, I assumed that this may have been Tim, so I tried, unsuccessfully, to email him about the stain. Dan arrived with his crew on 10/30/17. He indicated that the job should only take about 3 days. Work proceeded well on the first day, and everything looked like it would only take 3 days. However, only 2 people showed on Tuesday, for a total of 2 hours. Wednesday comes and work begins around 10am. This is when most of the confusion starts. Apparently there was some miscommunication about the trim work being done and the work order Dan had received was “incomplete”. Dan was not aware that all of the trim was to be done and not just the upstairs windows. The trim for the basement windows was apparently in another pile and not grouped together with the other trim. On Thursday, 11/2/17, Dan picked up the trim to install in the basement windows. He had to call me at work to tell me that the stain color was way too light compared to what the actual trim color was (which is odd because the stain that was initially indicated was actually a darker shade than the actual basement trim). Dan said that he actually compared the stained trim to every piece of woodwork in the house and nothing matched it. The last communication I had on Thursday, 11/2/17, was that Dan would cut and put together the framing for the windows and install them. He would construct them so that the bare wood side would be showing and I would stain them correctly myself. It was my mistake for not asking when and assuming that would be on Friday, 11/3/17. After taking off early on Friday and finding no work had been done, I called to find out a status on this. Dan said he would do the install on Monday, 11/6/17. Monday, 11/6, comes and I don’t hear anything until 1:24pm. Chris calls to tell me that Dan will be there at 3pm to finish the install. At about the same time, Dan texted me to tell me 3:30-4pm. Dan finally comes at 4:30pm and starts the install. I believe he was finished at 6pm. In the rush of getting finished, a few things were overlooked. The wrong molding was used on two of the basement windows, one of which had its bottom piece ripped too narrow, leaving a 1” gap. We also noticed that one piece of baseboard trim on the patio door was installed without coping the edge to meet up with the adjoining piece (not a big deal if your trim is flat but this is Colonial). None of the trim holes were filled on the basement windows which was expected since they were installed unstained; however, only two of the upstairs windows had their trim holes filled. I’ve since filled all the upstairs ones. It has taken me several days to finish the staining and sealing on the basement window trim. It’s taken a little longer since the trim is in place versus installing pre-stained trim. In this time, I’ve been communicating back and forth with Chris. I’ve informed him that I will be finishing everything up myself. I’ve let him know that two window screens were missing, which he has ordered, and I requested some window documentation, as no one did a walk-through to show us how to operate the windows (removal for cleaning, etc.). As of writing this, it has been a few days and I intend to get this documentation from the window manufacturer. I have saved all emails documenting everything possible. I’ve also taken a few pictures documenting some things (missing plugs and screens and some trim details). I should note that Chris did credit us $250 for my time, but I have yet to receive the invoice. On at least two occasions before work started, it was made clear to us that they would start the job and not stop to go work on another project until ours was finished. This clearly was not the case. As I stated to Chris, it's not that there was one large thing that has made us not completely satisfied. It's been the lapses in communication and all these little things that have totaled up to a sub-par experience. Chris communicated that he wished that we would do business with them again, offering a discount for future work or family-referral work. I said I didn't think that I would do that. He said he would call and talk to me again after the holidays, but as of 3/6/18, he has yet to call. All communication ceased once payment was made. I cannot, in good conscience, say that I would go with this company again. Nor would I recommend them to any friends or family."

"We contacted them and they repaired the hole and also put in a drain tile. There was a question about whether there was another source of water leak and they came back to test the integrity of our foundation and found that everything was ok.

Sometimes there was a delay in getting a call back from them and a delay in having them come to do the work. When they did come, the work was done well."

"I hired Patrick for a kitchen remodel. I needed the existing cabinets, sink, countertop, and tile removed. The space prepared for a new sink cabinet and a new wall cabinet to replace the existing cabinets. I first met Patrick and knew that I would like working with him. His estimate came in, and that sealed it. Patrick did an amazing job!!! He installed the new cabinets, countertop, some tile work, lighting, some new outlets and a new sink and garbage disposal. He did an amazing job on all of it!!! A great job on the electrical, plumbing, tile, framing in the wall for the new cabinet and replacing the existing sink cabinet, drywall, and preparing the new walls for final paint for me. Patrick had really great suggestions on materials and things that just made sense as we went along. He also was really open to my suggestions and changes as the project progressed. Not only is he a great contractor and amazing at what he does, he's a really kind person. It was a pleasure to have Patrick in my home for the project, and we had many great conversations and he is just a really good person. The project came in on time and UNDER budget! Well, a little over the original budget, but that was my fault because I added things like a garbage disposal, extra outlets, tile work, etc... But definitely under budget for all the work he did. I would hire Patrick again, for sure. I wish I could upload photos of my before and after. Great work Patrick!! Oh, and during COVID times, Patrick always had a mask on while working and I appreciate that."

"We just want to let you know how happy we are with the ceiling repair work! We couldn't be more pleased with the results. Your team was very professional and does great work. We can't believe it only took two days for you to complete our project. You really came to our rescue being able to fit this in a short time frame. You crew was able to fix the waves and visible seams left by the prior contractor and the ceilings look brand new. We will definitely be a future customer and have already started to recommend Epic Painting to some of our friends and neighbors. You are one of the best companies we have ever had work for us in our 35+ years of home ownership. You deliver what you promise. We wish others were more like you."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Poynette, WI

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
