"I pay a monthly fee to CHW for insurance against equipment failure. Over a month ago CHW sent a repair technician to fix both of my garage doors, the technician made an adjustment on one door and chanced the opener on the other. A week or so ago the second door failed to open. Yes, my door opener is old, but the Warrantee says, if it can’t be fixed it will be replaced. CHW paid the tech $100 and said the rest $200 is on me. Please tell me why I should stay with CHW if I have to pay 2/3rds of the cost to replace the door opener? On a separate issue: Granted I accepted CHW’s offer of a Lowe’s card to replace my dishwasher, because I was unaware of how much dishwashers sell for, it cost me an additional 300. Again, please give me a reason for staying with CHW"

"I was going on a weekend fishing trip, but while loading the car I learned that my garage door opener wouldn't open the door. The spring was busted. Within ~2 hours of discovering this on a Saturday morning, my door works again. If you have garage door needs, I'd recommend Jason with Midwest Door Doctor. Fast and honest. I was willing to pay him a bit more for some tune-up stuff I'd been thinking of hiring someone for before the spring broke. He said he'd already done that too, and it was part of the original cost quoted. On the phone, I described the problem, he asked for more details and said what the problem likely was and gave me an approximate cost. On site, he showed to me confirmed the problem, and I was charged what he originally estimated. $210. At least the spring didn't break in the morning while I was trying to get to work, and Jason was able to come out the same day!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
