"When called set up time right away to come look at our carpet. Came the following week flexible to my schedule and stretched the carpet in 4 of my rooms and the hallway. Looks almost like new."

"

We bought a new house and the existing carpet in basement was in very bad shape.  Sue came over and showed us some samples of carpets and spent over 2 hours with us going through the different types.  In the end we went with a Shaw nylon passageway I and premium padding at an incredible price .  We also got quotes from other vendors and their price for the same product was much higher.  Sue was also very helpful in color selection.  She knows Benjamin Moore paints very well and is able to visualize and explain what the room will look like with different carpet colors.

Her service is excellent, she always returns phone calls and emails and also called to follow-up after installation.  Her installation crew were also excellent.  They were on time and highly professional.  My basement looks fabulous!!  I would highly recommend this company for carpets!

"Premier Carpet & Flooring installed a Mirage Hardwood Locking floor system throughout our entire first floor, over 1,330 sqft. We found Bryan the General Manager a great guy to work with. he was very knowledgeable about the different flooring product and is not your typical salesmen. He takes the stress and pressure of making such a large purchase out of the process. Bryan was very flexible on both pricing and scheduling the installation. The installers on our job(Larry and Stan) were very professional and excellent craftsmen. The installation went smoothly. The installation started on the day promised and despite the size of the job, which also included some small confined spaces (3closets and a powder room), the entire job was done in less than four days. We highly recommend Premier Carpet & Flooring to anyone who has flooring needs."

"I was amazed at the job that Rob did on my carpet. He stretched and cleaned my hall carpet, and cleaned 2 other rooms. I had quite a few stains that I thought would never come out, but Rob got it out. He is the best!!!"

"The crew arrived promptly as scheduled.  They were very cooperative and professional.  They removed the existing carpeting, repaired all the nail holes, repaired 2 stairs and some nosing, replaced a few floor boards, and sanded and stained the floor.  They needed to remove some molding from one wall.  They did so very carefully with no damage.  It was put back when they did the shoe molding.  All was stained to my liking.  Oscar checked with me to be sure I was in agreement with anything they were about to do.  They fully respected our property and cleaned up completely."

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Princeton, NJ

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
