"Went very well. Old deck down and carried away first day. Footings set. Day 2 they made great progress and day 3 they finished the job. My deck is about 7' off ground requiring stairs; and about 290 Sq ft. It is two level either the area away from house one step lower. I also required two benches built and affixed to deck. I paid extra for premium lumber for flooring and we used regular grade for rest. They buffed the surfaces and beveled the railing top plates. When finished they cleaned off the surfaces of the deck and cleaned up the site. They carried everything away. They also helped get bigger items off old deck and moved them back on new deck. Everyone was very nice and answered any questions I had. I am very happy and pleased with the entire process. People and workmanship. The guys worked hard and put in full days. I would recommend them highly."

"After ordering a closet system online we called our guy Gerardo to install it. He did a wonderful job as always. He cut the molding so that it fit snugly on the wall and painted it. I love that he does a great job of cleaning up after a project is done. I love my new closet and we have a list of projects for Gerardo to do in our new home."

"I couldn’t be more pleased with the roofing work that was done. We had a roof leak that was causing some interior water damage. They got to us quickly, solved the problem that the previous contractor caused and were extremely professional. I was impressed with Mr. Deans’ integrity. He followed up to make sure the roof didn’t leak and we were happy after the job was completed. I’d recommend this company in a heartbeat."

FAQs for steel beams (structural) service projects in Raleigh, NC

A steel beam weighs six to 12 pounds per linear foot, depending on its size and shape. That means a 10-foot beam rated at 10 pounds per foot tips the scales at 100 pounds. Commercial projects often use much larger members—some top 50 pounds per foot—so crews may need lifts or cranes to maneuver them safely into place.

On a new build, crews can slide a beam into an open frame in just a few hours. Replacing a beam inside a finished home takes longer—plan on two to three days—to shore up the structure, remove finishes, and work around plumbing or wiring. Your structural engineer will outline the steps, and you may want to stay elsewhere while the temporary supports are in place.

Yes—as long as a structural engineer signs off, swapping a load-bearing wall for a beam is a safe upgrade. A steel I-beam offers the best strength-to-size ratio and meets local codes with room to spare. Your engineer will calculate the load, specify the beam, and verify that the surrounding framing can handle the new setup.

Watch for rot, rust, cracks, or sagging—all red flags that a support beam needs attention. Water stains, uneven floors, or doors that stick can also point to trouble. If you notice any of these issues, call a structural engineer right away. Catching the problem early protects your home and can keep the repair bill from ballooning.
