"Parker was great. Installation was very well done and looks great. Clean up was very good. Bill Metzger Plumbing arrived when promised. Responded to phone calls promptly and were extremely professional. I had the unfortunate experience of call some competitors who never showed up for an appointment and we recommended by the manufacturer. Wish I had called Bill Metzger Plumbing first."

"Sean, from Zoom Drain, was able to clear the blockage using a hydro jet machine. It cleared the line of black sludge that had settled over the years, narrowing the diameter of the pipe. Sean also sent a camera down the pipe after clearing it just to make sure there were no other blockages. Our sink is draining easily now and I would recommend Zoom Drain to anyone with drainage issues. Their service was prompt and on time and Sean followed all the covid safey guidlines while working at our house. He also cleaned up and sanitized the whole area afterwards - definitely 5 star service."

"Erinn was my initial contact and he gave a very through and fair estimate. We had structural work done to support floor joists and large beams under the garage that needed replacing. Ernesto and his team, Julio, Salvatore and Gilder worked tirelessly to complete the work and were respectful, punctual, informative and good humoured throughout the entire process. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others. A really great company!!"

"My experience with All Service Plumbing was excellent. Mike was prompt, professional, and very easy-going. He gave me a reasonable quote and because I was a first-time user of his services, he honored a coupon offered on Angie's list for 20% off. He originally quoted the price based on being able to bore from the sidewalk to the house underground with minimal trenching, but as it turned out, he had to trench as our ground is very hard and fought his equipment. He said I didn't need to be home while work was completed which was great because I didn't have to take time off from work. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Mike and a coworker had completed the work as stated and left the front yard very neat and clean. There was an issue that evening though as I had found a leaky water pipe. I called Mike and he came over that evening to repair the pipe at no extra cost. Mike's words were "we'll do the job right and make it right if we affect anything else in the yard." I can say from my experience that Mike is a man of his word."

"He did a fairly good service. It was a complicated job. He quoted low price, but he ran to some problems that he did not expect. So I paid him extra labor. He was punctual and he always answers my calls. He finished well ahead of the scheduled date and he knew what he was doing. There was an existing gas line. So he explained what he has done in a better way when compared to the earlier installation."

"<p>I had several plumbing jobs that needed to be done and I had been procrastinating for way too long. I called Cody and asked if he could come by for an estimate. He was able to squeeze me in the next day, AND he showed up right on time. My home is 30 years old and none of the bathroom fixtures had ever been replaced. There was a lot of rust and corrosion inside the fixtures and several were not working. Cody checked the showers, toilets and bathroom sinks and gave me an estimate of $703.00. The only thing I needed to buy was the fixtures for the sinks, but he supplied all other parts and fixtures. Because of my work hours, I thought I would have to wait a couple of weeks before I could schedule the work, because my schedule is so inflexible, but Cody offered to come by at 5pm just a couple of days later so I wouldn't have to take time off of work to get the repairs done. Cody and Anthony showed up on right at 5pm on the scheduled day and they had all of he work completed in 3 hours. Since he had to caulk the shower fixture, and it would take 6 hours to dry, he offered to caulk one, and come back the next day to caulk the other so we could use at least one shower tonight. I told him it was no big deal, since we all shower in the morning anyway, but it was very considerate of him to offer. When he checked my dishwasher, he found out that the person who originally installed it did no do it correctly and this was what was causing the problems (HUGE relief, because I was afraid I was going to have to buy a new dishwasher). </p> <p>After all of the work was completed, he advised me that the total would only be $675.00, not $703.00 because it turned out the sink fixtures I purchased came with supply lines attached, so he didn't need to charge me for them. I was very impressed with his honesty and professionalism. Cody an Anthony provided amazing customer service, were accommodating of my schedule and respectful of my time, they completed the work quickly and at a fair price. I highly recommend them.</p> <br />"

"It went great. West coast plumbing was clean, on time and affordable. James was very knowledgeable and explained the process. He was detail oriented and I did not feel like I was being sold things I didn’t need. I wish I had known about West Coast Plumbing years ago. I’d recommend them to all my friends and family."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
