"Russ was great to work with. He did a great job of picking out lights and flooring for me and even though he was booked with bathroom remodels he was able to fit me in in a timely fashion. His workmanship shows the pride he takes in his work."

"Things went very well. The four-person crew was prompt, professional and and efficient. The foreman described what was going to happen and how. The concrete walkway, front step and driveway sections that had settled over time were gently lifted and leveled using a polymer foam. After the work, all of the driveway section seams were level and smooth. Very few traces of the work were left behind. We would highly recommend Badger Basement Systems."

"Turnkey project from cradle to grave! <br /> <br />Not everyone has the talent, skill and dedication required to be a self proprietor and a good general contractor. The training and on-the-job experience required of a general contractor is often overlooked and by many homeowners. Our project site is approximately 7 hours from our current permanent residence. Key to our decision making was finding a qualified, reputable and trustworthy builder who was responsive, able to effectively communicate (phone, email, texting and faxing), had very strong time management skills, and was client satisfaction focused. <br /> <br />Dave Farley, proprietor and General Contractor of Coast to Coast Contracting and Development in Hayward, WI is a top notch professional who exhibits excellent communication skills to effectively and efficiently conduct business. Dave has done a great job with establishing a strong subcontractor base and has a very unique, passionate and talented crew. <br /> <br />Projects of this magnitude will always have unexpected hurdles, regardless of how much planning is done. How the obstacles are managed are critical. Dave has a unique and creative ability to bring options and alternatives to the table. No matter what, Dave will find a solution that is fair and appealing to the customer. <br /> <br />I challenge you to search for a trustworthy builder, who appreciates 'type A' personalities and in the end manages his operations with a conscious. We can assure you, whether you desire to be involved with each and every step of the project or desire to be more hands off and are looking to build in Northwest Wisconsin, search no further! <br /> <br />We are very proud to be in a custom home built by Coast to Coast Contracting and Development. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"It was good. They were right in line with the other quotes I received. They have done 3 houses around me and they all look really, really nice. I wouldn't particularly say they were late, it's more of the range of time, like they would be by at some point this day, that type of thing. They didn't say it specifically. They were clear about that. They didn't define the time."

"40 year old cabin was in need of a facelift.  The siding was starting to deteriorate and we had roofed the house about 10 years earlier with faulty shingles.  The interior was in ok shape, but needed some renovation, and we wanted a second bath added. <br /> With a wedding approaching in June and a tight timeline, we asked Griffin Construction for a commitment to be done with the project by May 1.  Troy worked out an aggressive schedule which I must say  I had my doubts about, but he was true to his word.  The project went as Troy had promised, even with a few somewhat major unforeseen issues popping up. <br /> We started the project near the end of February, and things really started moving.  The weather in NW WI in early 2014 was far less than ideal for a building project, as it was an extremely cold, snowy, long winter.  All the same, Troy persevered and shuffled tasks to meet his deadline. <br /> In terms of communication, we were doing the remodel remotely as we live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.  Troy was extremely cognizant of making sure a clear connection was made between us.  Any time an issue came up that needed addressing, Troy contacted my wife and me for confirmation, and did a great job expressing the concern and listening to our opinions on how to handle it. <br /> Two months after we started this endeavor, Troy completed that project on schedule and on budget.  There were some extras which we were well aware of relating to the unforeseen issues mentioned and modifications to the plan we'd decided to make, but I was very pleased with both the fairness of costs and receptiveness to our changes that Troy's team gave us. <br /> Three traits I'd use to express Troy's work:  Integrity, Punctual, Honest."

"Very satisfied with cost and workmanship.  Original contact was to repair wind damage on shingled roof.  Unlike other roofing contractors I contacted, the response was fast.  The 40 plus years of experience showed as the temporary repair was done immediately without any hassle of cost.  The cause of the wind damage was shown and explained as improper nailing of shingles. To my surprise it was suggested, that because of a current materials special, it would be more cost effective to install a new metal roof over the old shingles rather than replacing the old shingles.  A new metal roof, with all of its advantages, cheaper than new shingles! <br /> I said I was interested, and they took a lot of measurements.  A couple days later I received an estimate via E-mail. I also asked about financing.  The only option was  like a credit card application (5% up front and high interest after 1 year).  After working out alternative financing from my bank, I then responded via E-mail to proceed.  They came out again and made more measurements. They wanted advanced payment for the materials with final payment upon completion. <br /> A couple weeks later the new metal roof install began.  It was a three man crew, they worked professionally, took their time and did it right.  The weather caused multiple delays extending the work over about 3 weeks.  The new roof is impressive, several people stopped by to ask for name of contractor. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Rice Lake, WI

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
