"Called Alpine to set up appointment for an estimate; Mike arrived right on time along with the owner, David , very professional and they took the time to explain our options. We knew we needed to address the issues in the crawl space but weren't sure where to start. Mike recommended an extremely reasonable insulation company who was in and out in less than a day after Alpine did all the hard work prepping the crawl space. Mike uncovered a potential water problem in the farthest corner of the crawl space which we were able to address prior to installing the vapor barrier.

The Alpine team worked quickly but never missed a beat, sealing every vent and all the new ductwork. The installation went smoothly and represents a tremendous improvement over prior state. Our energy bill is now less than $200 a month on a regular basis and we've easily cut the monthly bill by over 30%!

Mike installed a new programmable, touch screen thermostat and took his time explaining all the various functions and setting it up for us (we haven't had to touch it since).

We're extremely pleased with our choice of contractors, we even signed up for Alpine's maintenance contract (and I'm not a huge believer in service contracts) but it makes sense to keep our HVAC system in good operating condition and a seasonal tune up should help protect our investment.

Tim and his assistant were careful to put on shoe covers in the house and to observe COVID 19 precautions. "Service guy came as scheduled. Sent his "service" requirements to home base Home base calls back and lists, a very long list of what needs to be done and a very long list of what is not covered and what each item costs. The overall cost was outrageous and they weren't willing to give it to me in writing. Everything I had to pay for was overpriced, of course! They told me my other option would be to purchase my own water heater and they would reimburse me for what there water heater would cost, but no reimbursement for Labor, building permit, or any upgrades required by the local building department. Lesson learned, have AHS do simpler repairs that don't require municipal building department approval. Have AHS pay for the equipment, and purchase installation from a trusted local installer."

"Shortly after moving into our new house, I began hearing a knocking on the side of the house every morning.  After a few weeks and a bit of freaking out, we finally saw the culprit - a woodpecker had made himself a lovely condo in the trim of our chimney.  The hole was closer to the second floor of the house, but too far from a window for me to reach. 

I called a contractor who had been referred by our realtor, and after getting a very vague and non-committal "estimate" from him, checked with a second company.  The second company's estimate was very open ended (paint, paint matching and "any additional supplies" were extra and not estimated) and referenced "wood rot" when I specifically told him that it was woodpecker damage.  My third try was with Care and Repair. 

David called me right away, and was very patient with my concern over the welfare of the bird - he actually researched the best way to re-home a woodpecker!  The estimate I received was for $106 and included all supplies - even paint that matched my house. He was very detailed and thorough in explaining what he was going to do, and even had plans B through G ready should plan A not go the way he wanted.

The final bill was $135, and the price difference was thoroughly explained - once David was able to get more than a "birds eye" view of the hole, it became apparent that there were actually three holes.  He completely cleaned out all of the bird's "furnishings"  (feathers, twigs, grass, etc) and cleaned out the bits of the wood that had begun to deteriorate, then filled the whole thing with wood epoxy.  The next day, he came back and sanded, primed and painted over the repair.  You can stare at that space all day and never see that it was once the beginnings of a woodpecker apartment complex!

Care and Repair's bill for this work was comparable to the other two vague and open-ended estimates I received from the other two companies.  They are courteous - you know they're actually listening to you. They're fast and neat (in and out, with no mess left behind) and they're dependable.  If they say they'll be there - they're there.  I would definitely use these guys again - in fact, I have!"
