"Had a great experience working with the guys from Shavitz. When my roof top unit broke and was without any heat, they came out immediately. Ryan was honest with his assessment of whether or not to replace the unit or repair it, and very helpful throughout my decision process. The quote that he provided was very reasonable, and I found to be the best option versus the other major names that I had received quotes from. When it came time to install, Cosmin and Linas did an excellent job, were both very friendly, and walked me through everything they were doing throughout the process. Overall, I am happy with the experience of working with Shavitz. And at the end of the job, Ryan came back again to make sure that everything was up to par. All in all, very happy with the service, but most of all the positive experience of the entire staff that I dealt with."

"Went very well. Nice guys, professional and respectful. Installed top equipment. Not the cheapest price I got, but seemed the most up front and honest. Great customer service when I had a minor adjustment issue a few weeks later."

"Nicely done. We have two Carrier furnaces in our old house. I phoned Air Solutions for an annual inspection/clean on both units and they had a man available the same day. Very nice tech, good communication, no issues, and they let us use the Angie's coupon on both units. Will definitely hire again!"

FAQs for window a/c unit service or relocation projects in Rogers-park, IL

If your window air conditioner is relatively new or of high quality, repairing it can restore optimal performance and protect your investment. However, for older units or those with ongoing issues, it might be more cost-effective to replace the unit to ensure long-term efficiency and reliability. Consider the unit's age, the severity of the problem, repair costs versus replacement, and energy efficiency ratings when making your decision. If repairs cost more than half the price of a new unit, replacement is typically the better option.

Window air conditioners last eight to ten years on average. After this time, you may notice decreased efficiency and component wear. Replacing an older unit can improve energy savings and provide updated features like remote controls and better overall performance. With proper maintenance including regular filter cleaning, coil checks, and professional servicing, you can maximize your unit's lifespan.

If your portable AC isn't cooling, it might have a refrigerant leak or a circuit malfunction that's preventing it from working properly. It's best to contact a local air conditioner contractor to inspect and repair the unit. If your AC is older and repairs don't fix the issue, replacing it might be the most effective solution.

Removing a wall-mounted AC costs $55 to $75. Completing the removal yourself at the end of each summer season, being sure to do so according to proper guidelines, keeps you within this cost range. Should you require professional assistance for removal and disposal, if you can't move the unit yourself, expect an added fee of $25 to $50 to the overall cost.
