"Absolutely the best worker. The driveway went from lumpy and bumpy, rain grooves and grass in the middle to a beautiful level perfect driveway. Will definitely recommend them."

"I have used Crossroads Land Service numerous times. Derek has trenched electrical lines, trenched water lines, excavated for a water hydrant, installed a culvert, graveled a driveway, removed groups of trees including the stumps and roots, and cut in a ditch. He has always been punctual, professional, and fair. The experience is always pleasant and I would recommend Crossroads Land Service to anyone!"

"It went extremely well.  At first I wasn't sure of the design he came up with for the flower bed, but, I went with it and was extremely impressed on how it came out.  I can definitely see now that he knows exactly what he is talking about.  I wish I had more yard for him to sculpt! <br />"

"Home Pro of Joplin, MO did a wonderful job on installing my new over-sized sliding glass doors. The guys were courteous and professional. The workmanship looks great. I'm very happy about the new look. I had shopped around and Home Pro had the best price. So thanks Rod! (salesman) and installers! "

"Dakota came well-recommended by my parents and my sister.  They've done landscaping and pond maintenance for them for a number of years.  They came to give us a quote and got us on the schedule within the next week.  They were professional and listened to our needs. The day of the work, they arrived and got straight to work on hauling and throwing 6 tons of rock/gravel into our landscaping beds. And they really cleaned our yard up when they were finished. They could not have been nicer people, and were a pleasure to work with from start to finish.  We'll definitely look to them for future landscaping projects on our to-do list. <br />"

"He was here on time finished the work in one day and was very pleasant to be around.  He replaced the fixtures and pipework that had rotted away in the tub and shower.  He was respectful of me and my children, did the work quickly and very well.  There were a few issues with the job that were unforseen at the start.  I had no idea that the pipes were rotting away!  He warned me beforehand about any issues and costs that could happen.  He also thoroughly went over the contract before signing.  Our shower has not had as good of pressure as it does now in years!  Thank you Ruhl and Son Construction and Excavation! <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Rolla, MO

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
