"Archie and carol were amazing! They were sweet, on time, professional and were extremely easy to have as our cupboard restyle experts. They protected our floors, and kept everything clean during and after doing our job. Would recommend them highly, and would use them again for any job. Thank u so much for a beautiful job!"

"Shaun of Twin Cities Shelves was great to work with. I had moved into a newer home and wanted the ease of having pull-out shelving in my food pantry, corner lazy-susan cabinet (which was basically unusable) and a couple of lower shelves for pots and pans and plastic storage containers. He was prompt, reliable and significantly less expensive than another local competitor. The shelves are beautiful and I loved his work so much a few months later I decided to have him install one more set of 2 shelves in my dining room area where I stored serving pieces. Having pull-out shelves makes sure you can access and see everything that you have and need. The pantry especially allows me to make sure that I can see what food I have and organize it so that is doesn't spoil or go to waste."

"It was great working with Joel. He worked with us on every detail of the project. We were limited on the space which made it more changeling for him but he came through with a beautiful red oak corner entertainment cabinet"

"We had Steve reface our cabinets after water damage. In addition to the refacing, he made 6 new full-extension drawers to replace existing drawers, created 2 new openings in 2 peninsulas along with 8 full-extension drawers for pans, small appliances, etc., and replaced shelves in the lower cabinets with more drawers. He also had to add reinforcement in some of the lower cabinets to support the new drawers. He does great work, is a perfectionist, and we would absolutely hire him again. We are very pleased with the job he did."

"Jon was great. He was timely in response to my call and the leg was repaired within two days. My dresser looks great. He was very friendly and offered suggestions for maintenance of old furniture. I would recommend him to anyone who needs furniture repaired or restored at home."

"Overall, we are very pleased with the product and installation. Our only complaint would be on what we would call "hidden costs" that came up after we had paid the required down payment of one-half of the cost of the job. When the estimator came back with his drawings, we were informed by The Cabinet Store that there were additional costs for L-shaped counters and seams, which was not communicated to us at the beginning of the process when we paid the down payment. One of these extra charges was for furring strips, which the representative explained were required for proper installation. On the day of installation, however, we observed that no furring strips were installed by the subcontractor, and he told us they were not necessary. After a quick phone call with the sales representative at The Cabinet Store while the installer was still onsite, she agreed to reimburse us for that charge, which they did."

"It went very well.  We moved into this home in April, 2015.  The home has Corian countertops (not my favorite).  The counters were scratched and needed a good sanding.  I could not find anyone to do the work.  Unless a vendor installed the counters they would not service them.  I had worked with Charles Cabinets in our last home so gave them a call for advice.  Within days they had arranged to have the work done.  When I decide to change countertops, I will call them for sure.  They are excellent! <br />"

"The experience with Tresa (from Tweeker Wood Renew) was excellent from the start.    Our house is 100 years old and my front door was in bad condition,  it was restored beautifully including the cracks in the door.  I also had a dining room table top that was in poor condition and leaves that didn't match,  Tresa was able to take the leaves and match them to the table - very happy with they way they look.  The biggest part of the job was refinishing the woodwork in a new additon that didn't match the the rest of the house. (including a small staircase)  Tresa was able to refinish the light oak wood work in the addition to match the mahogony wood work.  The match is better than we expected and makes the house more cohesive in appearance.    I plan on having Tweeker return to do some more work for us in the future. "

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Saint Joseph, MN

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
