"Russel Williams Home Services is my "go to" window cleaning, gutter cleaning, and Christmas lighting. I've been using them for years and I won't use anyone else. They do a great job and are very reasonably priced (with discounts for repeat customers). Most importantly, they're incredibly responsive with great customer service. I highly recommend their services."

"They originally put on the screen on my porch. Some of the boards they reattached fell off almost immediately. One board was not attached at all. More recently, our dog passed and I asked if they would come out and fix the screen on that door and reattach some boards that are off. Their response was that they would notify me the next time they are "in the area". Really? Been a few weeks, nothing."

"Don't use if you want windows installed in a timely manner. They were great until after we signed the contract and made the down payment. We encountered numerous delays in having the windows installed due to several occurrences of windows breaking. We paid the down payment on 6/23/25 and were told the timing would be about 6 weeks. The windows were initially installed 9/29/25, 13 weeks after we made the down payment. During the installation one of the panes of glass broke. The installer said it would be repaired "in a couple weeks". The repair happened around 1/8/26. That was 14 weeks later. Not great having a cracked window pane in the winter months. Throughout the process we had difficulty in getting the installer to respond to requests for updates on timing."

"Received bids from four contractors. Topside and one other came in within a few dollars of one another and about 10% to 15% less than the other two bids. I ultimately went with Topside because I liked the feeling of having a constant point of contact with a smaller company vs. project getting handed from sales to scheduling to production departments at a larger company. Andrew came out to make the measurements for the bid, coordinated supply drop-off, and was on site the day-of to check in on the progress. Rob (the owner) stopped by that evening to inspect the completed job. The work was scheduled promptly and completed professionally. Would happily chose them again if we have other exterior work done in the future."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Saint-stephen, MN

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
