"Darryl and his office manager, Patrice called me the same day I researched Angi for plumbers in my area. Fortunately, Darryl was able to come the next day to fix the issues of my brand new space-saving water softener that had been installed a month earlier in my condo. The original plumber couldn’t get it to stop leaking and wasn’t returning my phone calls. Within three hours, Darryl removed the water softener that was incorrectly hung on the wall, fixed the leak, and rehung the beast within two hours. And that included a trip to pick up a piece of lumbar to reinforce the wall the softener had to hang from. The plumbing gods were looking down upon me when they sent Darryl to me! Thank you, Darryl and Patrice. We are lucky to have you in this area. I bet Detroit misses you."

"It went great! Our 40 year old 75 gallon hat water tank needed replacement. I had trouble finding someone who could come out within 24 hours. These folks were available the next morning. They called ahead in AM to let us know they were loading up and again when they were on the way. Two workers got the job done before noon. Took out old tank for discard and installed new tank. After they finished we showed them a couple other plumbing issues. In the house. They diagnosed the problems and will be back when they get the parts. They were friendly and efficient. We are very happy."

"DO NOT BUY AND PAY FOR INSTALLATION OF HEARTLAND SHEDS FROM LOWES. They do not back these products. <br /> Two cancellations before installation.  Installer brought entire family to picnic, swim, sightsee. <br /> Two wall fell leaving gashes where the nails pulled through.  Door not aligned, latch not centered, didn't install felt protection for roof, two support beams not installed, nailed through shingles but did not caulk them, loft already sagging, improper anchor installed (this one is partly my fault.) <br /> For all my issues Lowes first reponse to me (and also to a neighbor) is that this is not a Lowes product, it is a different company and installation crew. Lowes is selling the sheds for goodness sake. Not one person ever mentioned this tidbit while purchasing a shed. <br /> The Port Huron, MI Lowes passed my complaint on to the "regional manager" of Heartland - one of the two men I'd already been dealing with! I have not heard from Lowes since. <br /> Heartland (in Livonia, MI), while dealing with more minor issues with the installation, refuses to: add two missing roof support beams saying I don't need them, add the felt missing from under the shingles (I paid extra for this added protection to the roof), or address the shed anchor issue (here in Lexington, MI we really need these sheds anchored.) <br /> Next kicker: I was supposed to send in the Warranty Card within 30 days of purchase. I didn't even get a warranty card at time of purchase.  <br /> 1. Due to two install cancellation dates, the shed wasn't installed until almost ten weeks after the purchase. ONLY THEN did I receive the warranty card to fill out.  <br /> 2. The brochure for the sheds is for Heartland -- the Warranty Card is to Backyard Storage Solutions in Monroe, MI <br /> Sooo...company after company after company. Shaft after shaft after shaft. VERY easy to keep passing the buck. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Salem, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
