"I just used Above and Beyond Homes for a second remodel at my house and couldn't be happier with the work that was done. We didn't even look at anyone else because of the great job they did before on our kitchen and master bathroom. They were always on time, informative about what was going on, and always cleaned up afterwards. We thought this time it would be a big inconvenience and block my kids from getting in there rooms, but they made sure they were able to get in each night. My remodeled second bathroom and the floors we had redone look great and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would definitely use them again if I need work done in the future."

"This is a great company to have work in your home. We had water damage and mold from a roof leak and our public adjuster recommended 1-800-DryMeOut. I am so glad that we took his advice and hired them. Their work is meticulous and all the employees that came to our home were very professional and courteous. They were careful with my property and belongings. They installed dust protection throughout my home. They showed up on time, cleaned up after themselves daily, and offered helpful advice on how to proceed with the insurance claim and the remodel work. Their work was top notch! I would definitely recommend 1-800-DryMeOut! Joe and Steve were especially great to work with!"

"Everything went better than expected. The work was done quickly, I received a personal email everyday letting me know what had been accomplished each day and what I could expect the next day. Each day when I came home was awesome. Something new and complete each day and no sign of anyone having been in the house. There were even small things done that I didn't expect. I wasn't charged for the additional items, but could tell it was just and quot;stuff that needed to be doneand quot; and <br /> the team saw the need and got it done. I couldn't be happier with their service. We are currently talking about some major remodels to the home and I am looking forward to working with Duncan America again in the very near future!"

"Fred came and provided a quote, and also suggested a few items that would help the job have a better overall finish. I had already pulled down the old tile and re-installed the needed cement board. Fred and his brother were polite and courteous to my wife and I at all times, and we were impressed by their cleanliness and timeliness. The work turned out better than I had expected, and they also gave us some tips on maintaining the tile work once they were done."

"Matt's response was swift. He came and assessed the work that needed to be done and gave what we found to be a fair estimate. Shortly after returning to his office he called back to inform us that he would lower the price because he found that he had a dumpster available for the rubble. As it was a relatively small project he brought an additional worker. Before starting the demolition they searched along the perimeter of the concrete for the presence of lines or pipes. After ascertaining that it was clear they proceeded to cut the concrete into smaller blocks in a professional and efficient manner. No cracks were created in the concrete that remained . They cleared the area of all debris and left it looking nice and clean. They even graciously consented to remove some broken stepping stones that were in the backyard. We were very impressed with their workmanship and the cleanly cut edges of the concrete. Now the landscaper can proceed to putting in sod as there was no appreciable delay because of the quick response. We will have a backyard to be proud of."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in San Antonio, FL

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
