Small jobs welcome

"I was looking for someone to repair the grout on our flagstone patio. Anthony called us quickly to set up a time for him to see the job. He came over and looked at the job and let us know what he thought would be the best way to repair it. We got his bid with in a couple of days. We were very impressed by his knowledge and his price. He did a great job taking out the old grout and putting the new grout to match the rest of the patio. I would definitely recommend him. It’s nice to see someone who takes pride in their job! Thank you Anthony"

"Raz and his crew at Brother and Brother exceeded our expectations. They got the job done within the stated timeline which was key. The price was the best quoted and the quality of the finished product is excellent! It was easy to communicate via text or call, what we wanted and expected. If we had any questions on materials or any changes to be made, they were quick to respond at any time, day or night. The whole crew was polite and easy to work with. Being that the job was the kids' bathroom remodel, they kept the worksite clean everyday after they were done. They adjusted the mirror to accommodate the faucet and gave suggestions to the paint and glass tile niche when we were unsure. Again, their timeliness was spot on; they started the job right away and finished on time. They had permits and inspections planned to very well, and we were notified well in advance when to expect any visits. So happy with the overall quality of the work, ease of communication, and fair price of the whole remodel. Would do it all again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Raz, for the best experience possible. Hope to work with you again in the future!!!"

"Nato met with us at our home multiple times to clearly define the scope of work and our expectations. He was willing to meet with us at times that worked with our busy schedules. His estimate for the job was $5K-$10K less than the two other estimates that we had received. The crew showed up on time, was respectful of our property and cleaned up after themselves. The brick and concrete work turned out especially nice. Nato was very flexible and patient when we decided to change the walkway design mid project. We selected plants based on his suggestions and by researching in books that he provided. We went with him to the nursery to select the individual plants. He also included some small jobs at no extra charge. The entire job took about 10 days not including Sundays. After the completion of the project we had some initial issues with our sprinklers that ZARCO quickly took care of. Nato is a flexible, honest and hardworking guy. We will definitely call him again when considering future landscaping projects."

"We hired Norcal Builders based off of thier excellent reputation, and I would happily recommend Stephen Paea and his team to anyone looking to enhance thier property. Stephen was with us every step of the way and and communicated his teams progress throughout the process. He gave insightful suggestions and helped us achieve more than what we hoped for on our property. Thier team was punctual and completed the job in a timely manner. During the project, Norcal Builders were skillfully able too remove a large tree that stood fairly close to our home, without damaging the surrounding area and especially our home. Thank you so much Stephen Paea and to the Norcal Builders for going above and beyond."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Santa Cruz, CA

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
