"Bobby Del Toro is literally the James Bond of masonry repair in Austin. Here&amps why: I hired Bobby to repair a brick lintel above my garage door, which due to some combination of age and stupid design, had cracked to the point of becoming unsightly and structurally unsound. Bobby came out to inspect the job, gave intelligent answers to my questions and a flat fee quote for the repair, which entailed cutting out the broken bricks, replacing and reattaching the angle iron above the garage door, and re-laying bricks in the repair site. Bobby got the job done in a day, with no delays or b.s. Bobby did such a good job of matching the repaired part of the masonry to the rest of the house that, unless you: (a) had an x-ray; or (b) had memorized the location of the weep holes in old masonry, you would not know that the area had been repaired. Given the efficiency, smoothness and quality of his work, I'm happy to give Bobby Del Toro Homeadvisor&amps highest review possible, and the honorary title of 34;the James Bond of Brickwork.&amp"

"Perez Construction was very responsive to our needs. We had water line damage from the storm on 2/16/21. A master plumber identified the problem as being the installation of the water lines to the hose bibs being between the house sheathing and the brick facade on 2/20/21. I reached out to home advisors that evening and heard from Raphael Perez immediately. He came to my home the next day and had a person at our home on Monday 2/22/21, By the next day at 9:30 AM they had found the location of all the critical water line locations so the plumber could start the repair work. The person that removed the brick only broke 2 brick in the process. This was critical since the home is 15 years old and finding additional replacement brick in the market was impossible."

"Over the past few years we have given CQS at least half a dozen jobs relating to multiple trades including excavation, tree removal and relocations, acres of tree clearing, drainage, landscaping and masonry work. Ely is the man! Always shows up or his crews will when they say they will. Which I have had multiple issues with labor/contractors getting a deposits and soon after spotty communications. Ultimately resulting in calling a true professional such as CQS and El Hefe Edgar Ely. His day rates and estimates are inline and fair with todays labor market here in Austin, Tx."

FAQs for brick or stone siding: repair or partially replace projects in Austin, TX

Stone veneer isn’t a weekend DIY. Even lightweight faux panels are heavy and must be anchored, flashed, and sealed to keep water out. Missteps can lead to cracked stone, leaks, or injuries. A licensed siding contractor arrives with scaffolding, masonry tools, and the know-how to set each piece safely and neatly, giving you a long-lasting, professional finish.

Stone veneer durability is robust when expert installation and proper maintenance are employed. When installed with precision, regularly cleaned, and sealed as required, stone veneer maintains its integrity for 25 to 75 years. Inadequate installation, however, leads to water intrusion and structural issues that compromise its longevity. Consistent upkeep and adherence to quality installation standards ensure decades of reliable performance.

Covering the entire exterior of a home with stone veneer is feasible but comes with a significant cost increase. Full coverage escalates both material and labor expenses due to the additional square footage required. Many homeowners reduce costs by applying stone veneer selectively—such as around entries, foundations, or architectural accents—while still achieving an upscale appearance and enhancing overall curb appeal.

Installing stone veneer over brick or stucco is entirely possible when the underlying surface is stable and properly prepared. The substrate must be clean, dry, and free of any loose material to support a secure application. Additionally, any areas of flaking stucco or deteriorated mortar must be patched and allowed to cure fully before a professional applies the new veneer, ensuring lasting durability.

Stone veneer siding offers a substantial cost advantage compared to full-thickness natural stone. It costs 25% of the price of natural stone because it is manufactured from concrete and lightweight aggregates. This method delivers the genuine appearance of stone while featuring a thinner profile that simplifies shipping, accelerates installation, and consistently reduces material expenses.

For a 250 square foot exterior area, stone siding installation costs range from $9,800 to $18,000, while installing stone veneer costs between $5,000 and $6,000. This clear cost breakdown demonstrates the significant savings achieved with stone veneer, which uses a lighter construction method that minimizes both material and labor expenses. Homeowners benefit from these lower costs while still attaining the attractive look of natural stone.
