"I knowingly paid Mr. Cacy more than the other bid due to his rating on Angie's List and was not disappointed.  I bought a lot that needed restoration work done, Frank communicated well with me, showed up on time and did a fine job.  As a part time resident, it is frequently a challenge to get contractors to execute as planned, but Frank did exactly what was requested, did an additional task, on time and without incident.  Would recommend Cacy's Bobcat / Excavation to others that need this type of work done."

"The construction crew worked quickly, were on time, responded to my suggestions, and produced a sold, well-built ramada. They cleaned up after themselves. The landscaping crew also were on time, completed everything quickly, charged the estimated price, and left the site looking just fine. I would use them again and highly recommend them."

"Well. But consumers must do their due diligence before hiring landscape companies for major projects. I got three or four landscaping company names from Plants of the Southwest, interviewed and got bids from three (bids came in at $2 to $4 per square foot). Before signing a contract with Narrow Leaf, I ascertained the company owner from the State Corporation Commission and then checked for litigation against that individual and the corporation itself over recent years at the at the NM court case look up web site."

"Cutter's Edge has been doing a great job keeping the weeds down for almost a year now. They have come out 3 times (August 2018, October 2018, and April 2019). They weed whack, blow the weeds and goat heads out into the street and vacuum them up, and spray. The last time they were out there weren't many weeds and I think it's because they are keeping up with it. More people are walking on this street now since they can walk on the sidewalk without getting attacked by weeds. I highly recommend Cutter's Edge."

"Isidro and wife Anna are a great team.  They did a superb job on our portale, virtually doubling the size of the space.  In order to do so, they had to clear out a mountain of dried grasses and weeds, then build up the surface to the same level as the existing portale using sand and rock.  Isidro did a superb job of ensuring that the flagstone he purchased for the job would match as closely as possible the existing flagstone.  He laid the floor in such a way that it will drain naturally in the rain.  He also took care to work around drains that take away water from the roof.  When finished with the portale, he found rock to match the rock wall facing of the portale, and built the wall up one or two levels, cementing where previously there had been no mortar.  The end result is beautiful-- the job exceeded our expectations.  Isidro was great about communicating with us every day what he intended to do that day.  He never left the premises without telling us where he was going and whether he would be back or not. Both he and Anna are hard-working.  Isidro also hired another mason to move the job along so it would be finished before winter weather set in, and he was also excellent at his work.  The price quoted was very fair; we ended up paying more in materials than we expected, but nothing excessive.  The excess flagstone remains with us for future projects, which we will happily employ Isidro to do.  In fact, before he finished we discussed a couple of future projects come spring.  I unhesitatingly recommend Isidro for flagstone work.  In the spring, we can comment on other types of projects. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Santa Fe, NM

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
