"We updated our 2 patio areas and a courtyard. Allied Outdoor Solutions helped formulate our design and materials. They are responsive, detailed and knowledgeable. We are very happy with the finished product. The work entailed installation of a covered aluminum pergola, a covered back patio, and a hardscape courtyard. They also corrected an existing drainage issue with our driveway."

"Jordan, the manager was awesome. He was incredibly knowledgeable of his product and was able to come and measure the house the very next day. The plan was for the installation to take five days. The installers for the tile were prompt and efficient. The install only took three days. The carpet installation only took six hours. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their home. They may be a bit pricy, but you definitely are paying for what you get: excellent service, diligent workers, and efficient installation."

"Chuck, owner, did my estimates. He helped to find all the cracks and make recommendations on how to fix them. The crew arrived on time, lead by Joe who was very good. They were very thorough in finding all the cracks and repairing them. Joe even pointed out one area that they did not even on the original list that they found. The mortar was color matched to try to make it blend it to existing mortar. Most of the house is not visible from the street but the columns are so I want particular care there. They were very attentive. The overal look is very good now and I don't worry about the columns collapsing."

"Found Budget Landscaping on Angie's List and went to the company's website. Submitted electronic contact form and within hours Jeff, the owner, contacted me. He was very professional and was even willing to come out the next day (which was a Saturday no less) to provide a quote. He thoroughly explained what work was necessary and even provided some suggestions - like placing river rock with flagstone steps (easier on bare feet) around the pool equipment pad so that no mowing is required. When it was time to start work, his crew showed up in the morning and had completed all of the work by late afternoon. During the entire process he provided frequent updates. A complete pleasure to work with! <br /> Total services: installation of 3 pallets of sod with proper ground preparation; edging with ~4 wheelbarrows of river rock around pool equipment pad; extended pool overflow drain (approx 30' run) <br />"

"<p>Kirsch did an outstanding job with our landscaping.  Our design and installation manager Georgia was extremely professional, knowledgeable and right on target with the cost projection for our large, total “gut” job.  Her insight and approach to the design of our new landscaping was second to none:</p> <p>·     She first listened carefully to our needs and wishes.</p> <p>·     She then educated us, giving us the pros and cons on all plants we were interested in.</p> <p>·     Once we made our choices, she saw to it that everything was installed to our satisfaction.</p> <p>·     As we neared the end of installation, she also instructed us on how to care for everything.</p> <p>The entire Kirsch team was impressive.  Owner Ken Kirsch came by to make sure we were completely satisfied, and Lindsey in Accounting was very sweet and easy to work with.  The installation crew worked quickly and cleaned our driveway and sidewalk before leaving.  Georgia stayed on budget and within our time frame.  She returned to inspect our yard a few times after the work was completed, making sure all of our new plants were growing as expected.  We could not be any happier with our new yard!</p> <p>When you hire Kirsch and work with Georgia and her team, you hire knowledgeable professionals who make sure everything is done right.  They will treat your landscaping needs as their own, taking pride in the home investment that it is, and working with you every step of the way.</p> <br> <br> <br>"

"We contacted Charles for an estimate to replace the roof on our outdoor kitchen/pergola.  His estimate was in line with other estimates we received and we were quite impressed with the knowledge that Charles exhibited.  When we told him that we wanted our polycarbonite roof replaced he knew exactly what we were talking about. <br> <br>A week or two after the roof had been replaced, Charles emailed me asking if everything was okay with the roof.  We had not had any rain to speak of at that point so I told him the next time it rained we would double check.  Very refreshing to have someone check on their work. <br> <br>Well, the huge rains occurred here in Spring, Texas and there were a couple of leaks.  I contacted Charles and very quickly he responded and sent his crew out to make repairs.  This was at a time when all the flooding took place and I'm sure they were very busy but he took the time to make repairs on a project that he had already been paid for.  I cannot say enough good things about him and his crew's professionalism.  When we get ready to remodel the outdoor kitchen, Charles will be the first call I place! <br> <br>"

"First, Bret is smart, organized, knowledgeable. Quotes were reasonable. Work was started ahead of schedule. His crew was outstanding. Had an early bump in the road when they hit a water line (I don't put much blame on them for that, the pool company put it less than 5in from surface and Bret owned the error. The landscaping was great. Two significant issues arose after the work was completed. The first was that the drainage they put in wasn't draining. The first time, Bret was great, came back out, dug it up, cleaned the rocks etc. Then after the next rain, same problem. Second return was a bit more delayed. After a couple call backs the responsiveness dropped. Initially this was explained as a staffing problem. On the last trip, a response was promised within a day by the guy he sent out. No response. At that point, my yard was flooding at every rain. I finally hired another company, had all the drains dug back up. The problem appeared to not only be dirt getting into the lines but also that at a critical juncture right before they tied into existing drains, the lines starting going uphill. I don't doubt Bret when he explained that he had done this hundreds of time and this was the first yard it didn't work (in reference to the dirt in the lines). He's an honest guy and his guys work hard. But in this case, it failed and cost me more time, money, and enjoyment in the new yard. The going uphill part is harder to justify. Cost me another $7000 for the second company to dig out the drains and redo them and redo the sod/landscaping that didn't survive the flood. The second issue is really a warning to folks who have dogs who tend to eat things in the yard. I specifically asked that no plants toxic to dogs be used. Yet lantana was put in. While it won't kill an animal, it can and does induce seizure among other issues - which I found out after the dog ate it. So I would recommend anyone who shares such concerns be much more specific about requesting details related to all of the specific plants and double checking the plants with the aspca list before having them installed. So my review is very mixed. Smart guy, great crew, skilled at landscape design but the drainage for me was a fail."

"The two masons completed all the cracks and secured the two walls, even adding a little mortar in a few places not on the estimate. The work is professional..... You would never know there had been any cracks. Mortar matches perfectly. Reasonable rates. A house is a expensive asset, every one can immediately see a DIY repair (never matches) - Call the professional masons, you'll be glad you did."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Santa Fe, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
