"What a fantastic company. - prompt, dependable, dedicated, industrious, HONEST! Beside organizing my home, they will do deep cleaning, hang wall decor, make decorating and style suggestions and choices, and maintain my sanity! They have dropped off items to be repaired and organized my files. Sidekicks is the perfect example of a “Jack of all trades”. I was very lucky to have found them."

"I ended up not buying the house, because the owner of the house was covering up some possible structural damage on the house. The company, Pro Renovation was actually went inside the closets to inspect, they were really good, they were awesome because they were able to discover the damages on the closets , with pictures. they are very honest, because they could have just made the dollars up & left me in a mess, they actually looked out for me, to my best interest. I highly recommend this company."

"Excellent. Hanging the hammock on the porch of a beach house took some ingenuity to hang properly. It turned out to work perfectly and looks good. The replacing of rotten wood and re-screening look good as new. Stephen (the Tybee Handyman) is a pleasure to work with, totally dependable, professional and does good work. He also is very reasonable in his charges."

"They do very good work. The only issues I had were with responsiveness and follow through. I had them remove a bathtub and install a shower and they didn't plane the shower at enough of a decline so now the water stands in the shower and doesn't drain properly. I wanted them to come back to fix that as well as to lower the curtain rods and that never ended up happening. I was willing to pay them to come back and they assured me they would come, and just kept putting me off so I had to hire someone else to come do it. It was really disappointed because they did good work and I really liked Rickey, the owner, but they just never followed through with their promises,"

"AJ & John were great, and the roofing crew was truly excellent. We LOVE the new Pewter Gray color, which provides more curb appeal than our previous stark black roofing. They were fast but through, and did a wonderful job of cleaning up around the perimeter of our house before leaving. This company is extremely easy to work with, and they deliver top-notch services at a reasonable price!"

"First: The owner of Horton Remodeling, John, is incredibly responsive. I found this to be even more so if you contact him via e-mail. That's not to say he doesn't return calls, but he's on top of his e-mail. I never had to wait more than a couple of hours for a response (most of the time it was less than this). By being on top of customer communications, he made our family feel like a valuable customer.

Second: Spring is the remodeling season. When we were trying to figure out a date to have the doors refinished, Horton was in high demand and fairly well-booked. We were looking at one or two weeks out. At the time, I had taken a week off work to be with my kids during their spring break and I indicated that I would really prefer not to have to take more time off to be home for his crew to do the work. In order to accommodate my request, John asked one of his carpenters (a great fellow named Hank) if he wouldn't mind coming by our house after he got off work each day to work on the doors for an hour or so. Hank lives fairly close to us and was happy to oblige. By being so flexible and willing to work around my schedule, Horton Remodeling AGAIN made us feel like a valuable customer.

Third: Once the finishing was completed by Hank, John came by one evening and adjusted our hinges. The doors closed just fine for a day or so, but then one of them started dragging again (these are large, solid wooden doors with a semi-circular top held in place by hinges that only go up about 2/3 of the side - so it's inevitable that gravity will have an effect). I contacted John to let him know and I think he was back out the next day or the day after that and got things set straight again. That was almost two weeks ago and the doors close like butter! Nice and smooth.

Fourth: For the quality of service, work and convenience, the cost of the service was incredibly reasonable. A couple of years ago I got a quote from another service and they quoted more than I paid for Horton... per door! So, I ended up waiting until I was in a place to spend that sort of money and come to my surprise, I had money left over (that immediately went toward other projects around the house).

If I *ever* need any sort of carpentry or remodeling work done, I will not hesitate to call these folks. Just keep in mind that the work we had done was pretty small-scale, and they do quite a bit of large-scale work, so the scheduling bonus made available to us may vary from job to job. I just wish I could post a picture of their finished work!"

FAQs for shed, barn or playhouse repair projects in Savannah, GA

You’ll know it’s time for a new shed roof if shingles curl or buckle, soft spots sag, or water stains appear inside. Moss or other plant growth on the surface is another red flag that moisture has breached the roofing layers. Replacing the roof quickly stops leaks from spreading, protects stored items, and saves you from costlier structural repairs down the road.

Choosing between a flat and a sloped shed roof comes down to climate, budget, and upkeep. A flat roof is cheaper up front, but still needs a slight pitch for drainage. A sloped roof sheds rain and snow more easily, lasts longer, and often needs less maintenance. Weigh your local weather patterns, the look you want, and how much time you’re willing to spend on upkeep before deciding.

A shed roof’s life span hinges on the material you choose and how well you maintain it. Most standard products last 15 to 30 years, while premium picks like slate or clay tile can protect the structure for 50 to 100 years. Regular inspections, fast fixes, and routine cleaning all help you reach the upper end of those ranges and keep your tools and gear dry year-round.
