"The removal could not have been more professionally done. They started when they said they would and finished in just about 3 hours with no problems or disruptions to our day. And cost was very reasonable. Sal also recommended the companies I used to replace my oil burner and remove some asbestos both of which were very well done and at very good prices."

"After our roof began leaking onto several areas of our ceiling we signed up for Angie's List and began contacting those with good ratings. The first two contractors that showed up told us we needed an entire roof replacement as the 10 year old shingles were no longer any good. Three or four of the other contractors we contacted by phone failed to even return our phone calls.
Even though he lives almost an hour away, we decided to contact Don Miller. What a shock....not only did he return our phone calls and emails, but stated he would promptly travel almost an hour to check out our roof. Mr. Miller showed up as promised and thoroughly checked both the outside and inside of our roof. He said we did not need a new roof. He believed the leaks were coming from a faulty ridge vent. He gave us a very reasonable quote and told us he would start the work within a week...weather permitting. Don Miller showed up as scheduled and completed the work within the day. He left our property spotless.
It has been almost 3 months since Don Miller replaced the ridge vent and despite some intense thunder storms we have had no further leaks onto our ceilings. We can't tell you how much we appreciate Mr. Miller's wonderful workmanship to go along with his outstanding honesty and integrity. He truly is a gem."

Environmental and demolition services are complex jobs, which should be performed by a contractor that is adequately insured, maintains the highest professional standards and employs the industry's most advanced procedures.\n\n\n\nSince its opening in Allentown, Pennsylvania, RAPCO has performed literally thousands of environmentally sensitive jobs. Whether a large high rise or a small residential job, RAPCO prides itself on maintaining a high level of client satisfaction. RAPCO's extensive experience and detailed focus on a limited area of expertise has resulted in RAPCO being able to perform extremely efficiently and subsequently RAPCO is able to offer very competitive rates!\n\n\nAsbestos removal should be performed by a company that is licensed with the State of Pennsylvania Contractors State License Board. Further, environmental companies should maintain an adequate level of insurance. All workers who perform environmental clean-up should have proper training in order to assure that asbestos/mold/lead debris are not scattered through-out the work area during removal. There are very specialized techniques that must be incorporated in order to assure a safe removal process. All workers must be covered by worker's compensation insurance to assure that no liability is passed on to the property owner (client).

FAQs for asbestos abatement projects in Saylorsburg, PA

Asbestos is a group of six naturally occurring mineral fibers once commonly used in building materials because of their resistance to heat, electricity, and corrosion. However, in 1975, research confirmed that these fibers cause mesothelioma and other cancers, leading to strict usage laws. If your home contains asbestos, removing it can prevent long-term health effects. You'll often find asbestos in the flooring, ceilings, pipes, and roofing of homes built before the 1990s. Common asbestos-containing materials include vermiculite insulation, vinyl flooring, millboard, and corrugated roofing. If you suspect you have asbestos or any of these materials in your home, it's important to hire a reputable abatement company to perform testing.

Currently, there is no federal licensing mandate for asbestos removal contractors. However, certain cities and states require certification and specialized training. For example, in some areas, contractors handling asbestos must receive an Asbestos Handler Certification. Be sure to check your local laws to ensure any contractor you hire meets the necessary requirements.

Homes constructed before the 1990s can conceal asbestos within building materials, and testing provides a definitive answer. You should have your home tested by a certified asbestos inspection service. This professional evaluation identifies hazardous materials and determines whether removal or encapsulation is necessary. Testing safeguards your family’s health and supports smart budgeting for remediation.

Federal law does not require you to disclose the presence of asbestos when selling your home. However, certain states and local jurisdictions impose disclosure regulations that you must follow. Testing and professional remediation confirm that hazardous materials are properly managed. This proactive approach not only meets legal requirements but also protects your property’s value and buyer health.

Asbestos removal affects a home’s resale value because hazardous materials can deter potential buyers. Having toxic substances present lowers buyer confidence and may reduce the property’s value by 1% to 15% if not addressed. Professional remediation ensures safety standards are met and preserves marketability, protecting your long-term investment.

Grants exist at both federal and state levels to support asbestos testing and removal projects. Local housing programs may also offer financial assistance when asbestos is discovered during home repairs. Meeting certification and testing standards is required to secure these funds, which help to manage overall project costs while ensuring safe remediation.
