"I had an old water heater (was in the house when I moved in about 20 years ago) and it started to leak. After shutting off the water to the water heater, I did a little Angie's List research to find a company to do the replacement. I called a couple and decided to use Randy Lane, based on cost and my interaction with them, which I felt was cordial and helpful, and made an appointment.
The service person arrived on time on the day of the appointment and went to work. He disconnected the old heater and hauled it out. The new heater was brought in and he did the needed plumbing work to connect the water and also made the natural gas connections. He fired up the unit and briefed me on the new unit - how to turn-off the water and gas, if needed, temperature, etc.
The area was left in the same condition as when he arrived.

"I found water damage in the morning and after considerable investigation, determined that it was from a pinhole leak in a water pipe in the basement.  I had to turn off the main water valve to stop the leak, so I needed to repair this quickly.  I have used Burkhardt Plumbing before with success, so I called them again.  They were able to come that afternoon ( I called around noon) and Dean arrived within the promised time slot. 



He fixed the leak, and also advised me that it was probably due to insulation around the pipe which was held in place by small wires.  The insulation around the wire itself was decaying (probably installed 40 years ago) and could have caused an electrostatic charge (?) between the two metals which would corrode the copper pipe.  I appreciated this extra information, so that I can remove the rest of the insulation and prevent future leaks (the insulation was put on to prevent condensation and is no longer necessary).   I thought the cost of the repair was fair.

They then cleaned, deodorized, repackaged and stored the items until we were able to move back into our restored home. I am thankful that there are companies that come and do this distasteful chore--items had to be removed from wet, smelly insulation, wet wallboard and charcoal. They were respectful and kept detailed records. We only lost one piece--out of 1000's of items. "Service was good, installed timely, worked clean and seemed to know the product. I had a new water heater, toilet, garbage disposal and a outside faucet installed / replaced over the course of 2 years. I spent approx 8000 for these things. My furnace had cracks in the heater core. The quote the have had been between 5 and 10 thousand. I received another quote for 4000 and went with them. I touched base with the owner and never had a straight answer to why the quote was so ‘vague’ or so high for a town house.
