"Stenson Landscaping did an outstanding job on a complicated project in my front yard. I was looking to have the following done: 1) repair all existing stone landscaping walls (which were in bad shape); 2) demo the old front walkway and pour a new one with a different pattern of stairs; 3) build stone retaining walls down the sides of the front walkway and across much of the front of the yard, and have those walls match the existing stonework; 4) fill behind the walls with gravel and filter fabric for drainage and fill dirt for planting; 5) update all irrigation to the new layout and ground level, including installing drip irrigation lines for future planter bowls. Stenson did an outstanding job at the project. They worked to detailed specifications and designs that I provided them, and were open to feedback and willing to make changes on the fly as needed. The stonemasonry in particular is outstanding - the walls are very solid, built with rebar and concrete footers, and really look incredible. The change in the look of my front yard is night and day. I'm thrilled with the outcome of the project and would absolutely hire them again."

"BEST experience we’ve ever had with a contractor! First, the owner, Brandon, gave us an honest and reasonable bid for our large backyard patio/courtyard project that was less than half that of an equitable competitor, but included even more work! Even as the project progressed, and unforeseen details came up, the price remained the same, and each issue was resolved to our satisfaction. Outstanding value! Quick and Reliable! We had 1600 sqft of paving done, with retention steps, a sitting wall, cobbled paths, and a significant lighting package. Brandon and his team showed up on time, on the scheduled day, and worked non-stop for 5 days. There was always a supervisor on site, and Brandon or his supervisor communicated with me every day. Everyone on the team was a pro, and worked at a very quick pace. The work was started and completed exactly on schedule. Quality. They know their stuff, and from start to finish, our project was done right. From installing electrical, moving irrigation lines, burying and re-routing drainage lines, to ensuring level and grade, their work was done properly, without cutting corners. This work will last. Finally, the results were gorgeous! It turned out looking even better than we imagined. They expertly matched our stone, and even made suggestions along the way that improved the original design. We could not be happier with their work, and will be using them to do my mother-in-law’s house as well. I will recommend them to everyone I know."

"This was the most reasonably priced company I found after getting a few estimates. I saw their sign in a neighbors yard. They are very good about shaping trees and advising you on any questions you might have."

"My husband and I highly recommend Icon Granite service on countertop installation service. We are very pleased with the excellent job completed by Icon Granite and especially by Oscar and his team. Oscar and his team had completed the job professional, beautiful, on schedule at the very reasonable price. Oscar is friendly, polite, honest and very talented. First he went to the stone shops with us to select the best slabs for us then he spent lot of time thinking a way to cut our expensive stone in the most efficiency way with minimum waste to save us money from buying another slabs (while other contractors would not go through this thinking exercise and just asked us to buy extra slab). He aslo amazingly cut my 2 extra long 115" bathroom countertops without any seaming or breaking. We had used Icon Granite two times for our projects and we are very happy and pleased with their job well done. Thank you Oscar and the Icon Granite Team! We enjoyed and appreciated your beautiful works. We wish that you are continue success in your business."

"It was a miserable experience. I needed a portion of my front porch rebricked. They sent me a temporary employee to my home that promised me the moon. When the repair cracked and separated from the body of the porch they blamed me for not compacting the ground underneath their repair. Should have been their job to do that. When I complained, they threatened to sue me instead of fixing it. Would not recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Seagoville, TX

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
