"We hired Husam to install new doors, floor and window trim (painted/stained as well). Based on his estimate this would cost just over $3k and take 3-4 days to complete. Husam (his employee Nii) started work on Dec. 1st, 2022. By Dec. 6th, they hadn't yet completed the install or painting of the doors and hadn't started on anything else. Nii had installed the doors incorrectly (switched left- and right-swing doors around, for example) several times and despite assurance from Husam, the workmanship continued to be poor and the work significantly slower than advertised. On Dec. 6th, we informed Husam that we didn?t want him to continue and asked for a partial refund of the deposit ($1500) since the quoted amount for the door install was $1050 and it was not yet complete. Husam agreed but never responded again beyond sending an updated bill totaling $1500 instead. We filed a claim in small claims court and we finally got our partial refund 2 years later once the court ruled in our favor."

" We engaged My Baker after our basement flooded a few years ago. They did very good work on a project despite it being during the pandemic. Their workers were respectful and the project was finished on budget at quality standards we were thrilled with. "

"Nate allowed me to order my bathtub myself, which was nice. Lowe's failing to deliver when promised, was not. This delayed the start, and although it did take longer than I expected, everything came out great. They did not charge me extra after the water damage was exposed, which was a relief. One of the other estimates I got from a general contractor was for 3x as much, AND they planned to add on after the wall was opened. The bathroom specialists wanted 150% of what we paid, and I think we ended up with better results."

Customers say: Quality work

"Larry took on the incredibly ambitious project of renovating our 1914 Craftsman home, repainting the exterior, expanding the primary bathroom, refinishing floors, decking, stairwells, expanding and updating the kitchen, updating electrical and heating systems to modern standards, and so much more. The project is almost complete, but we were so excited that we wanted to write the review anyway! Throughout the process, Larry and his crew worked tirelessly to get things done, always focusing on quality and making sure we were happy with the work. Even partway through the project, neighbors were already commenting on how much they loved his color choices, and how much he and his crew cared about the project. Even given how large the project was, Larry and his crew tackled it head-on and got it done; he really brought out what made this home so special to us. We're really happy to have had the chance to work with Larry, and are really appreciating how wonderful our new home is thanks to him and his crew."

"We very enjoyed working with Ihor and his crew, all of whom were immensely respectful to our home, focused on performing quality work with an eye for detail, and surprisingly quick in completing the job without cutting corners. Ihor's communication throughout both projects, the deck build and basement leveling/flooring, was specific and timely. I have no hesitation in recommending Ihor and look forward to working with him again when the next project calls."

"We worked with Renovate from August 2024 through April 2025. Our experience was exceptional. Ross, Eric, and Jeremiah were efficient and effective, treating our project with great care. The Renovate team stands out in several ways: - Their pricing is transparent. We paid an hourly cost and subcontractor costs, plus a fixed mark-up, which aligned incentives. Amanda provided receipts and timesheets regularly. - They have superb attention to detail. They pointed out issues we might have missed and ensured they were fixed. - They were super responsive, encouraging us to text or email any time and often responding quickly. They kept us updated on the timeline and explained any delays. - They have a strong client focus. They addressed subcontractor errors quickly and reminded us to ask for what we wanted, even if non-standard. They provided recommendations but let us make the final decisions. We highly recommend the Renovate team. For our more detailed review, see Google."

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Seattle, WA

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
