"Wow! Sam and Calla exceeded all expectations. They are responsive, communicative and take the same care with your home as if it were theirs. Our 25+ year old home is cedar sided and needed some love. Their knowledge and experience with cedar/log homes is extensive and showed in the results. Our home was carefully cleaned and re-stained, the foundation repainted and our rear deck, which was in a bad state, rejuvenated. When we begin an update of the interior, they will be our paint team. The quality of the workmanship is outstanding but the thoughtfulness of this team made it one of the best experiences of this kind we have ever had."

"He’s excellent… very meticulous and actually did more than we agreed he would do. I hired Cruz to do some exterior painting on my house. He did a fantastic job so I immediately hired him to stain my fence and more. Now I can say, my 90-year-old house has not looked this good in years!"

"Bolivar Painting Company recently painted our church auditorium. The scope of the work entailed drywall and ceiling repairs followed by two finish coats of paint, in addition to covering and safeguarding our pews and A/V equipment beforehand. From beginning to end, Luis Bolivar and his crew did an outstanding job and finished the work early and on-budget. Upon completion, they cleaned and vacuumed the auditorium to perfection. If you are looking for painters to paint your church auditorium or your home, you need look no further than Bolivar Painting Company."

"I'm a relatively new homeowner, so after a storm damaged my roof, I had no idea how to get my roof repaired or how to navigate the home insurance claim nightmare. I was so grateful when my friend's husband (who is a contractor specializing in home insurance jobs) recommended I call a company local to me called American Custom Contractors. My friend's husband told me he had worked with the company previously and knew that the company had good people, does good work, and is trustworthy. I'm happy to say that he was 100% right. Initially, my home insurance company only wanted to pay to replace a few shingles on my roof, but American Custom Contractors advocated on my behalf, and we were able to get the home insurance to replace my whole roof! There was months of back and forth with the home insurance company, but American Custom Contractors really allayed my anxiety during this whole process. In fact, everyone I met and spoke to at the company knew exactly what they were doing and were polite and professional. I felt like I was in good hands during the entire process. I'm happy to say my roof is now brand new and beautiful. I highly recommend American Custom Contractors for their superb customer service and high quality work."

"Mark did a great job painting my rental house.  Made great suggestions for color, got the work done quickly. and did not leave a mess. He was also very mindful of not letting the  dogs get loose.  I contacted several painters. Most did not call back or if the did, never gave the estimate.  Mark was very good with communication.  Phone, text, email.    <br /> <br />"

"Drywall subcontractor was Blue Dolphin.  He was excellent and prepared everything for painting.    <br /> Problem arose when repair of the drywall seams extended into the surrounding walls and called for extra painting to be done.   I would have paid extra for the additional work but was told I wouldn't be charged for it. <br /> Real problem was bid included painting a small ceiling downstairs.  It was included in the contract.  There were 2 small stains on the ceiling.  I asked if those could be primed and matched, but contractor said better to paint the whole ceiling which I agreed to and again which was included in contract.    They double primed the stains downstairs and started work upstairs. <br /> When the painters finished upstairs I asked about downstairs ceiling and they called contractor who said that wasn't part of the deal which was simply not true.  He may have forgotten about it,  but it was in the contract.  Plus they had started the job by priming the stains.  Then Contractor got a little huffy on the phone  saying "this is how its going to be, if you want the downstairs ceiling done it will be another $300.00."  His attitude was very disappointing.  So I ended up paying another 300.00, but I didn't pay extra for the additional upstairs painting so it wasn't something I was going to make an issue about.  However, when General Contractor didn't live up to his written contract, then that's a problem people should know about.    Blue Dolphin drywall (his subcontractor) was great though and I would recommend him for drywall repair.  The painting crew was average and missed a few areas that had to be redone. <br />"

"My wife and I just bought a new home and the entire interior needed paint and wall repairs. Tony and his team we better than we expected. Very friendly, responsive and timely. Walls needed more repairs than we saw. They did a fantastic job repairing where wall paper had been removed before, taking their time to get the paint lines right. We're very open to changes we made while the project was happening. They took our house which was the model in 1982 and brought it back to a level I imagined it was back then. I would recommend Tony and Broughton Painting for any and all paint work you need done. Already going to get some work for the outside lined up. 10 Star quality and service all around."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Sherwood, MD

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
