"I will be very honest in my assessment of Amanda. Sitting in front of me I have a beautiful design for my living room and dining room in a townhouse I owned in Houston. Amanda picked beautiful, comfortable chairs, nice wallpaper and very cool lighting.  The problem with Amanda is not her ability to design an amazing room - she certainly is very talented. The problem I experienced with Amanda was the inability to handle the details, to stay on top of the project, and to assist with actually putting the room together. This may be a problem in general, with all on-line designers, who knows.  I do know that I ordered this package from Amanda in August of 2013.  My first conference call with her was some time around October, and my designs were given to me (not the complete design) some time in December.  I learned quickly that when Amanda says she would have something for me "by the end of the week," she really meant about 2-3 weeks down the road.  In any event, I was elated when I got my first design for my dining room. I delayed placing an order because the stuff she picked was a bit pricey and I wanted to save my money over the holidays. I placed an order in early February for two rugs and a chandelier - totaling well over $3,000.00. Amanda advised that it could take about 4 weeks for the rugs and chandelier to come, which was no problem with me.  8 weeks passed and I began emailing Amanda. (Mind you that the money was charged to me immediately, with no follow up emails from any of the manufactures, no indication of shipping, nothing... so I began to feel uneasy). After a couple of unreturned emails and phone calls, Amanda apologized for the delay, mentioned that she was surprised I hadn't received anything yet, and explained to me her mother was in an accident. No biggie, but I explained to her that I would be out of the country in mid-April and unavailable to sign for anything. She assured me the rugs were en route from Georgia and would be there before I leave.  As far as the chandelier, we discovered that they had attempted to deliver it, but Amanda had provided them the incorrect phone number, so they were not able to get in touch with me. I asked her to correct this so I could receive the chandelier. Because I never heard back from the company, and no additional attempts to deliver were made, I am assuming she did not do this.  And, as could be expected, the rugs did not come before I left - they came when I was in Germany and when no one was home to sign for them. Since over 12 weeks had passed since my order, I contacted my credit card company and initiated a charge back.  They agreed with me that it was concerning that so much time had passed with very little contact, and immediately refunded my money. (Amanda and her husband eventually tried to fight my chargeback, but they were of course unsuccessful. I did not have the goods, and they never attempted to re-deliver them). Also, I will add the following to things about my experience with Amanda, which bothered me:
1) I was told in January I would have curtains and throw pillows picked out "by the end of the week." Those never came.
2) Amanda said she had a client in Florida who would ship me a sample of the wallpaper. This never came either. Amanda said it was shipped to me - I never received it and kind of doubt it ever was.
So basically, $500 dollars for two rooms of design got me some dining room chairs (albeit - awesome), a table she picked out that was too expensive so I found a different one, some cool wallpaper that I will never be able to get a sample of, two expensive rugs and a chandelier that resulted in a credit card fight and a headache. At the end of the day, my advice is that if you want a talented and friendly person to design your home, don't mind waiting some time for it all to come together, and are cool with locating the stuff and putting it all together on your own, Amanda may be it for you. If you want a designer who is good at following up with details, assuring stuff gets to you in a reasonable time, and assists with pulling the room together and finalizing your project, I would highly recommend you find someone else."

"After a super sales job by Dana on Oct 5, 2020, we expected the job to be started in approx 8 weeks (it was on Nov 23, 2020) and that the crew would stick with it until complete. The crew was very good and polite. They kept to themselves upstairs in the master bath (due to COVID and they wore masks) and worked hard to demo our old bath and prepare for the new install. The Kohler shower with a rolling glass door was completed without issues. We only received one of the 2 vanities we had ordered and received the wrong light fixtures for above the vanities. They did install the waterproof LV floor, which is very nice and what we selected. We waited for the second vanity (decided to go with the style of the first one installed, for expediency sake) and the correct light fixtures to arrive and then get the crew back here to Radford, VA. The foreman Memphis did make several local trips to get the wall paint, the ceiling vent/light, and the towel/robe hooks we would order originally but were not included in materials brought. Four weeks from start to (not quite) finish. The bathroom looked great and we were happy and paid the balance of the cost of the bathroom upon completion, on Dec. 18, 2020. Approx 2 months later we had a leak in the under-vanity plumbing which damaged our living room ceiling. Evidently, the nuts under the vanity were not installed tightly enough and it dripped until the under sink slide-out drawer was full and leaked out of the back of the vanity down the wall to stain the living room ceiling. We shut off the water source to the vanity until the crew came again to inspect and by then I had discovered a fine crack in the back corner of my vanity, which had to have either arrived that way or happened during install. That has to be replaced. Memphis looked at the leak and asked if we had any Primer. We did, and he painted the spots (L-shaped discoloration). The stains are still there as the primer did not cover the stain Waiting on the new vanity AND the entire living room ceiling to be repainted. Jim Plecker came on April 1 to view the damage and see the crack in the vanity top. He said that the new vanity would be ordered and he would have the crew back to install the same and repaint the ceiling. It is May 9 today and I have not heard back. I am waiting and will add an addendum to this review when the job is truly Finished."

"Jeorge rewired the entire house to code, replaced cabinets and counter tops in the kitchen, plumbing and other smaller jobs around the house. He did a great job and I really appreciated the fact that he always kept in touch, to give me updates on how the job was progressing. I was not living at the house at the time and I totally trusted him to show up and get the job done. He also took out his own time to explain things and to make sure I knew what was expected of him. His prices were very fair and I highly recommend him and would definitely hire him again."

"We liked our interior design plan that we received , but it just took a long time to get the final plan.  She had told us in the beginning that she had gotten a big response to that deal.

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Sidney, NY

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
